Superconductivity at 23 K in Pt doped BaFe2As2 single crystals

open access: yes, 2010
We report superconductivity in single crystals of the new iron-pnictide system BaFe1.9Pt0.1As2 grown by a self-flux solution method and characterized via x-ray, transport, magnetic and thermodynamic measurements.

Evaporation waves in superheated dodecane [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
We have observed propagating adiabatic evaporation waves in superheated liquid dodecane, C_(12)H_(26). Experiments were performed with a rapid decompression apparatus at initial temperatures of 180–300°C.

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Phase diagrams in blends of poly(3-hydroxybutyric acid) with various aliphatic polyesters

open access: yeseXPRESS Polymer Letters, 2011
Phase behavior with immiscibility, miscibility, crystalline morphology, and kinetic analysis in blends of poly(3-hydroxybutyric acid) (PHB) with aliphatic polyesters such as poly(butylene adipate) (PBA), poly(ethylene adipate) (PEA), poly(trimethylene ...

Establishing an assay to evaluate d‐amino acid oxidase enzyme kinetics and inhibition using WST‐8 redox dye

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study investigated a novel WST‐8‐based assay for evaluating d‐Amino acid oxidase (DAO) inhibitors. We confirmed its effectiveness using known inhibitors and found that uremic toxins possess relatively weak inhibitory activity compared to existing drugs.

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

One-step grafting of temperature-and pH-sensitive (N-vinylcaprolactam-co-4-vinylpyridine) onto silicone rubber for drug delivery

open access: yesDesigned Monomers and Polymers, 2017
A one-step method was implemented to graft N-vinylcaprolactam (NVCL) and 4-vinylpyridine (4VP) onto silicone rubber (SR) films using gamma radiation in order to endow the silicone surface with temperature- and pH-responsiveness, and give it the ability ...

Four-dimensional polymer collapse II: Pseudo-First-Order Transition in Interacting Self-avoiding Walks

open access: yes, 1999
In earlier work we provided the first evidence that the collapse, or coil-globule, transition of an isolated polymer in solution can be seen in a four-dimensional model.

Identifying transcription factors controlling the basal expression of human MRP4 highlights a substantial role for Sp1

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The MRP4 transporter exports several drugs and signaling molecules. Here, we identified key promoter elements regulating basal MRP4 expression. Using reporter assays, we defined a conserved region with essential Sp1 and contributory Ets sites, which controlled basal MRP4 expression.
