Claustrum Volume Is Reduced in Multiple Sclerosis and Predicts Disability
ABSTRACT Objective The claustrum is a small, thin structure of predominantly gray matter with broad connectivity and enigmatic function. Little is known regarding the impact of claustrum pathology in multiple sclerosis (MS). Methods This study assessed whether claustrum volume was reduced in MS and whether reductions were associated with specific ...

Extreme event propagation using counterfactual theory and vine copulas [PDF]
Understanding multivariate extreme events play a crucial role in managing the risks of complex systems since extremes are governed by their own mechanisms. Conditional on a given variable exceeding a high threshold (e.g.\ traffic intensity), knowing which high-impact quantities (e.g\ air pollutant levels) are the most likely to be extreme in the future

Upper bound for the time derivative of entropy for nonequilibrium stochastic processes [PDF]
We have shown how the intrinsic properties of a noise process can set an upper bound for the time derivative of entropy in a nonequilibrium system. The interplay of dissipation and the properties of noise processes driving the dynamical systems in presence and absence of external forcing, reveals some interesting extremal nature of the upper bound.

Correspondence of MRI and nTMS With EDSS in Multiple Sclerosis: Longitudinal Follow‐Up Study
ABSTRACT Objectives Considering the characteristics of multiple sclerosis (MS) disease and its impact on motor disability, this study aims to assess the functional integrity of the corticospinal tract by examining motor evoked potentials (MEPs), Expanded Disability Status Scale (EDSS) scores, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) lesion counts, and ...

Clinical Trial Readiness in Limb Girdle Muscular Dystrophy R1 (LGMDR1): A GRASP Consortium Study
ABSTRACT Objective Identifying functional measures that are both valid and reliable in the limb girdle muscular dystrophy (LGMD) population is critical for quantifying the level of functional impairment related to disease progression in order to establish clinical trial readiness in the context of anticipated therapeutic trials.

Upper bounds for Extremal Betti Numbers of $t$-Spread Strongly Stable Ideals [PDF]
We study the extremal Betti numbers of the class of $t$--spread strongly stable ideals. More precisely, we determine the maximal number of admissible extremal Betti numbers for such ideals, and thereby we generalize the known results for $t\in \{1,2\}$.

Resympathectomy of the upper extremity
Abstract Resympathectomy was performed in 27 patients (eight bilaterally) with ischaemic hand phenomena. An extended operative technique, resecting parts of the second and third intercostal nerves and their surrounding tissue, was used. In all 35 procedures the posterior extrapleural approach was used.

False-negative upper extremity ultrasound in the initial evaluation of patients with suspected subclavian vein thrombosis due to thoracic outlet syndrome (Paget-Schroetter syndrome) [PDF]
OBJECTIVE: To assess the utilization and consequences of upper extremity Duplex ultrasound in the initial diagnostic evaluation of patients with suspected subclavian vein (SCV) thrombosis and venous thoracic outlet syndrome (VTOS).
