Bathymetry and active geological structures in the Upper Gulf of California
Bathymetric surveys made between 1994 and 1998 in the Upper Gulf of California revealed that the bottom relief is dominated by narrow, up to 50 km long, tidal ridges and intervening troughs. These sedimentary linear features are oriented NW-SE, and run across the shallow shelf to the edge of Wagner Basin.

ERS-2 Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) frames were collected over the northern Gulf of California during winter 1999. The frames, presented here as a single composite image (100 x 300 km), express a mesoscale meander or eddy-like feature, approximately 80

Range extension of brachyuran crabs along the Baja California coast, Mexico (Crustacea: Decapoda)
The study of brachyuran crabs collected from intertidal areas of the upper Gulf of California and the west coast of the Baja California peninsula, at Tortugas Bay, Baja California Sur, has produced a northern range extension for the following species ...

Barotropic background currents in the Gulf of California
A field of barotropic background currents (BC) in the Gulf of California is constructed numerically. The definition of BC used here is based on suppositions about (i) the horizontal homogenization of potential vorticity in large-scale gyres, and (ii ...

The gulf corvina (Cynoscion othonopterus), is an endemic species of the Gulf of California, and its fishery is one of the most important in the Upper Gulf of California. Two dynamic biomass models (Schaefer & Pella-Tomlinson), were used to assess the state of the stock due to the lack of enough age data for a reliable full age-structured stock ...

Spatial segregation in eastern North Pacific skate assemblages. [PDF]
Skates (Rajiformes: Rajoidei) are common mesopredators in marine benthic communities. The spatial associations of individual species and the structure of assemblages are of considerable importance for effective monitoring and management of exploited ...

Measurements of upper mantle shear wave anisotropy from stations around the southern Gulf of California [PDF]
Se cuantificó la anisotropía sísmica del manto superior usando estaciones que rodean la parte sur del Golfo de California. El movimiento absoluto de la placa de América del Norte puede explicar las mediciones en la parte continental estudiada e implica ...

Perivascular matrix densification promotes the emergence of aberrant endothelial tip cells (ATECs) that invade and persist within fibrotic microenvironments. Using in vivo lineage tracing and a human microvessel model, this study shows that fibrous matrix cues destabilize VE‐cadherin–mediated junctions to gate TGF‐β signaling, inducing a pro ...
