Upper Limb Dimelia

The Journal of Hand Surgery, 2017
A patient with upper limb dimelia including a double scapula, humerus, radius, and ulna, 11 metacarpals and digits (5 on the superior side, 6 on the inferior side) was treated with a simple amputation of the inferior limb resulting in cosmetic improvement and maintenance of range of motion in the preserved limb.

UPPER LIMB LENGTHENING

Hand Clinics, 2000
Congenital deficiencies and developmental deformities of the upper extremity often result in complex deformities that include, to variable degrees, shortening and angulation. Because of the nonweight-bearing status of the upper extremity, these deformities are better tolerated and often of less functional significance than their counterparts in the ...

Embryology of the Upper Limb

The Journal of Hand Surgery, 2009
An increased understanding of embryogenesis has advanced our fundamental knowledge of limb anomalies. Animal models with similar limb patterning have been used to dissect and manipulate crucial signaling centers that affect limb development and orientation.

Development of the Upper Limb

Hand Clinics, 1985
The advances of developmental biology are beginning to unravel the mechanisms behind congenital anomalies and should, in the not too distant future, have an impact upon their treatment. Much of classic developmental biology represents careful descriptions of the developing body form, in this case the upper limb. There is a great deal to be learned from

Upper Limb Interventions

Radiologic Clinics of North America, 2019
Ultrasound has been reported to be a quick, cheap, and effective imaging modality to guide the interventional procedures in the musculoskeletal system. The use of ultrasound results in increased accuracy of needle placement associated with a reduction of complications.

Upper limb strength in relation to upper limb posture

International Journal of Industrial Ergonomics, 2005
Abstract The aim of the study was to analyse values of the maximal forces of pushing, lifting, handgrip and torques of pronation and supination as well as to develop predictive equations expressing maximal force in relation to upper limb posture for four upper limb activities (pushing, lifting, pronation and supination).

Upper Limbs Trauma in Pediatrics

Seminars in Musculoskeletal Radiology, 2017
A correct interpretation of musculoskeletal imaging studies of children requires an in-depth knowledge of normal skeletal growth and physiologic changes in growing bones. During childhood the growing bones are more prone to acute and chronic injuries because of the imbalance between osseous structures and tendons and ligaments, so physeal injuries are ...

The Upper Limbs

2011
In children, the clavicle (collarbone) is one of the bones that is most susceptible to fracture. In most cases, immobilization is the preferred choice of treatment; only in exceptional cases does surgery prove necessary, and this is confined to cases where there is a simple fracture with exposure of the bone.
