Search for magnetic monopoles in polar volcanic rocks
For a broad range of values of magnetic monopole mass and charge, the abundance of monopoles trapped inside the Earth would be expected to be enhanced in the mantle beneath the geomagnetic poles.

Carbon can be a major constituent of crustal and mantle fluids, occurring both as dissolved ionic species (e.g., carbonate ions or organic acids) and molecular species (e.g., CO2, CO, CH4, and more complex organic compounds).

ABSTRACT The Paleoproterozoic Talvivaara mudstone is a very large sulfidic Ni‐Co deposit that records enhanced organic matter accumulation during the global Shunga Event. Here, rock geochemistry and microscale S and Fe isotope composition of in situ pyrrhotites and pyrites are studied in well‐characterised, well‐preserved drill core samples.

The Seismic Expression of Core Complex‐Style Extensional Detachment Faults in Rifted Margins
ABSTRACT The identification of core complex‐style extensional detachment faults (CCDFs) in rifted margins is crucial for accurately restoring their stratigraphic and thermal histories. Yet recognising CCDFs in seismic reflection images is challenging due to their faint topographic expression; the lack of associated abrupt offset in seismic reflections;

The distribution of earthquakes in stable intracontinental tectonic settings is typically far more diffuse than along plate boundaries and the causative mechanisms underlying some recognizable clustering are not understood.

Uncertainty of mantle geophysical properties computed from phase equilibrium models
Phase equilibrium models are used routinely to predict geophysically relevant mantle properties. A limitation of this approach is that nonlinearity of the phase equilibrium problem precludes direct assessment of the resultant uncertainties.

Across the entire mantle we interpret 94 positive seismic wave-speed anomalies as subducted lithosphere and associate these slabs with their geological record.

Emergence of Continents Stabilized the Bioavailability of Boron
ABSTRACT Boron is an essential element for the development of life on Earth; borates stabilize ribose in prebiotic reactions and facilitate metabolism in higher plants. There is, however, a relatively narrow surface boron concentration range over which borates stabilize and serve as a micronutrient rather than a toxin.

Deep carbon cycles constrained by a large-scale mantle Mg isotope anomaly in eastern China
Although deep carbon recycling plays an important role in the atmospheric CO2 budget and climate changes through geological time, the precise mechanisms remain poorly understood.
