Doppler-tuned Bragg Spectroscopy of Excited Levels in He-Like Uranium: a discussion of the uncertainty contributions

open access: yes, 2009
We present the uncertainty discussion of a recent experiment performed at the GSI storage ring ESR for the accurate energy measurement of the He-like uranium 1s2p3P2- 1s2s3S1 intra-shell transition.

Uranium–nitride chemistry: uranium–uranium electronic communication mediated by nitride bridges

open access: yesDalton Transactions, 2022
Sequential reduction of a uranium-azide through all the nitride steps is revealed. Experimentally determined U–U coupling in the diuranium(iv)–dinitride is shown byab initiocalculations to stem from the nitride bridges, not U–U bonding.

A geoneutrino experiment at Homestake [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
A significant fraction of the 44TW of heat dissipation from the Earth's interior is believed to originate from the decays of terrestrial uranium and thorium.

Magmatic and hydrothermal behavior of uranium in syntectonic leucogranites: The uranium mineralization associated with the Hercynian Guérande granite (Armorican Massif, France) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Most of the hydrothermal uranium (U) deposits from the European Hercynian belt (EHB) are spatially associated with Carboniferous peraluminous leucogranites.

Making Photoresponsive Metal–Organic Frameworks an Effective Class of Heterogeneous Photocatalyst

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review summarizes photoresponsive MOFs for photocatalytic applications, focusing on their capacity to enhance light harvesting, charge transfer, and surface reactions. While existing studies provide foundational insights, emerging characterization techniques enable a deeper understanding of photoresponsive MOFs.

Large Igneous Province Record Through Time and Implications for Secular Environmental Changes and Geological Time‐Scale Boundaries

open access: yesGeophysical Monograph Series, Page 1-26., 2021

Exploring the links between Large Igneous Provinces and dramatic environmental impact

An emerging consensus suggests that Large Igneous Provinces (LIPs) and Silicic LIPs (SLIPs) are a significant driver of dramatic global environmental and biological changes, including mass extinctions.

Self‐supportive Three‐Way Photoelectrochemical System Achieving Uranium Recycling, Organic Oxidation, and Electricity Generation in Complex Waters

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A self‐sustaining solar photoelectrochemical cell (SS‐PEC) is developed to recover uranium from aqueous UO22+ with concurrent organic oxidation and electricity production. The monolithical photoanode directly captures electrons from organic compounds, leading to the oxidation of organic compounds and the decomposition of uranium‐organic complexes ...

Systematic Comparison of Commercial Uranyl‐Alternative Stains for Negative‐ and Positive‐Staining Transmission Electron Microscopy of Organic Specimens

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Negative‐ and positive‐staining TEM is essential for rapid nanometer‐resolution characterization of organic specimens ranging from nanoparticles to cells. Uranyl salts are widely used negative‐/positive‐stains but are radioactive and highly toxic to users and the environment.
