Polarographic Determination of Uranium by Extraction Separation

open access: yesJournal of the Atomic Energy Society of Japan / Atomic Energy Society of Japan, 1971
Uranyl tribenzoate, formed in benzoate-benzoic acid media, was extracted into chloroform in combination with quaternary ammonium salts (DMBPAC, TEBAC and TEPAC) at pH 2.5-5.5 in the ratio of 1:1. The plot of logD against pH indicated third power dependence of pH. Similar plots of logD vs. log[B-] also showed a slope of 3.

Overcoming Chemical Dissociation Processes: Electrochemical Modulation of High‐Affinity Binding Sites for Rapid Uranium Extraction from Seawater

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials
Currently reported adsorption (hydroxyl or amidoxime) groups must dissociate hydrogen ions to form ─O− units for the coordination with uranyl ions. However, this process suffers a high energy barrier for bond dissociation, leading to the sluggish uptake ...

Decontamination of Uranium-Contaminated Soil Sand Using Supercritical CO2 with a TBP–HNO3 Complex

open access: yesMetals, 2015
An environmentally friendly decontamination process for uranium-contaminated soil sand is proposed. The process uses supercritical CO2 as the cleaning solvent and a TBP–HNO3 complex as the reagent.

Sustainability of uranium extraction – a discussion

open access: yes
Nuclear power has been declared a green technology within the scope of the EU taxonomy. However, this decision did not take into account the mining of uranium and the final disposal of uranium products.  The different methods for mining uranium and their effects on the environment are discussed in this paper.

Dictyonema black shale and Triassic sandstones as potential sources of uranium

open access: yesNukleonika, 2015
The main objective of the present study was an assessment of the possibility of uranium recovery from domestic resources in Poland. In the first stage uranium was leached from the ground uranium ore by using acidic (sulfuric acid or hydrochloric acid) or
