Geometry‐Dependent Surface Lambertian‐Equivalent Reflectivity (GLER) Climatology for the TEMPO Mission

open access: yesEarth and Space Science, Volume 13, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract We describe a Geometry‐dependent surface Lambertian‐Equivalent Reflectivity (GLER) climatology developed to support operational retrievals for the Tropospheric Emissions: Monitoring of Pollution (TEMPO) mission. This data set provides monthly and hourly surface reflectance for snow‐free land, snow‐covered land, and oceanic regions.

Adaptive Turbine Replacement Improves Hydropower Flexibility in a Changing Climate

open access: yesWater Resources Research, Volume 62, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract Hydropower plants will operate under new conditions as water regimes shift, reservoir operating rules evolve, and the grid requires flexible balancing of wind and solar. Hydropower plant turbine systems are traditionally designed to operate at the highest efficiency within narrow ranges of flow and reservoir levels while deviations from design

The loss of an Indigenous‐maintained She‐Oak woodland in southeast Australia

open access: yesGeographical Research, Volume 64, Issue 3, August 2026.
A 2600‐year multi‐proxy palaeoecological record (pollen, charcoal, and sediment) from Balfour Swamp, east Gippsland, reveals the persistence of an open, grassy She‐Oak woodland maintained by GunaiKurnai. This vegetation community, resilient to climatic variability and fire, was lost following the disruption of Aboriginal land management and replaced by

Using Ongoing Wildlife Surveillance Programs to Monitor Antibiotic Resistant Bacteria in the Environment

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology Reports, Volume 18, Issue 4, August 2026.
Screening of ESBL‐, pAmpC‐ and carbapenemase‐producing Escherichia coli among Swedish wildlife demonstrated a low occurrence of antibiotic resistance in wild animals. Only two ESBL/pAmpC‐producers were detected in red foxes originating from highly populated areas.
