Recent scholarship on the materiality of cities has been criticized by critical urban scholars for being overly descriptive and failing to account for political economy. We argue that through the conceptualization of urban metabolisms advanced by ecological economists and industrial ecologists, materialist and critical perspectives can be mutually ...

Planting for healthy air: Urban biodiversity enhances natural chemical environments
Cities urgently need nature to improve public health, support biodiversity, and increase resilience to climate change. Yet not all green spaces offer the same benefits. In this study, we show that more diverse urban plantings create richer “chemical environments”; subtle, naturally scented atmospheres formed by plant emissions that can influence how ...

Multipathway schematic of endocrine therapy–induced cancer‐related fatigue. Endocrine interventions trigger four interacting mechanisms—neuroendocrine dysregulation, systemic inflammation, energy‐metabolic failure, and psycho‐behavioral amplification—that culminate in the multidimensional CRF phenotype.

Systemic inflammatory burden (IL‐6, CRP) is strongly associated with neuropsychological dysfunction and functional impairment in post‐COVID syndrome. These findings support a neuroimmune‐linked pathway in long COVID and highlight inflammatory markers as potential tools for risk stratification and clinical monitoring.

Microbiome‐mediated chemical communication in insects: Implications for pest management
Microbiome–semiochemical interactions involve the following processes: direct microbial synthesis, host gene regulation, precursor biotransformation, microbiome modulation and indirect ecological signaling. Abstract Insects rely on semiochemicals to regulate aggregation, mating, foraging, and host selection. This review synthesizes evidence that insect‐
