Thresholds: The metaphorical foundations of powerful knowledge
Abstract This paper advances a theoretical account of threshold concepts as metaphorical‐relational structures that reorganise meaning across contexts. Building on conceptual metaphor theory, we propose that threshold concepts can be understood as sites of schema‐level reorganisation: deep, embodied patterns of relational logic that scaffold abstract ...

Estimating Illicit Stimulant Drug Consumption in Luxembourg Using Wastewater‐Based Epidemiology
Wastewater‐based epidemiology provided nationwide estimates of illicit stimulant consumption in Luxembourg, revealing higher urban use, weekend increases in cocaine and MDMA, and cocaine as the dominant stimulant. The approach offers an objective complement to conventional drug surveillance for informing public health and policy.

Interface‐Engineered MXene/g‐C3N4 Heterostructures for Energy and Environmental Applications
This review highlights how interface engineering in MXene/g‐C3N4 heterostructures regulates charge transfer, band alignment, and surface chemistry, enabling broad applications in photocatalytic conversion, environmental remediation, energy storage, and multifunctional sensing/therapy. ABSTRACT Two‐dimensional MXene/g‐C3N4 heterostructures have recently

Understanding how anthropogenic pressures and environmental gradients shape coastal fish communities is a central question in biogeography and marine conservation. Yet, the set of species expected to occur at a site given ecological conditions but being absent – the so‐called dark diversity – has received far less attention than observed species, even ...

Species traits mediate terrestrial mammal density responses to human impacts
Human activities are reshaping ecosystems, but their effects on species population density remain poorly understood. Most studies focus on species presence–absence, thus limiting insight into how anthropogenic pressures affect population density. Emerging evidence suggests that responses of natural populations to human disturbance are highly variable ...
