How Real‐Time Kinetics Explain the Different Interaction of Cubosomes and Hexosomes Nanoparticles with Lipid Membranes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
GMO cubosomes and DOPE hexosomes interact differently with lipid membranes: cubosomes exchange lipid molecules with the membranes, destabilizing them when the membranes do not contain cholesterol. Hexosomes interact more gently with membranes and tend to fuse and incorporate into them.

Urban Mobility and Transportation

open access: yes, 2019
Urban areas are developing quickly, innovative technologies grant enlarged scope for mobility management. According to literature, 50% of world population and as much as 75% of EU population live in cities, where the majority of GDP is generated. CO2 is responsible of 75% GHG worldwide and transportation is worth around 20% of this share and the ...

Design Rules for Perovskite Nanocrystals: Volume‐Governed Absorption Versus Shape‐Controlled Auger Recombination

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Femtosecond TAS measurements on perovskite nanocrystals reveal how the one‐photon absorption cross‐section scales linearly with nanocrystal volume, independent of shape. In contrast, biexciton Auger lifetimes vary strongly with shape and remain constant in the weak confinement regime for nanocrystals larger than the exciton Bohr radius, offering new ...

Poka: A Necro‐Robot Beetle with a Measured Payload Ratio of 6847%

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Here, Poka, a necro‐robot beetle with the ability to carry more than 68 times its own weight, is introduced, making it also a walking robot with the highest payload ratio measured to date. This paper is concerned with the design, manufacture and validation of ‘Poka', a novel millimetre‐scale necro‐robot aimed at bridging the performance gap between ...

Life Cycle Assessment of Magnesium‐Impregnated Biochar Production and its Application for Nutrient Removal and Soil Improvement in Rice Cultivation

open access: yesAdvanced Sustainable Systems, EarlyView.
This study evaluates the environmental trade‐offs of different rice husk management strategies using a life cycle assessment (LCA) approach. It compares biochar production for water treatment and soil improvement with direct incineration for energy generation.
