Peripheral and bone marrow eosinophils were determined in a group of patients on chronic hemodialysis and in predialysis uremics. Healthy subjects were taken as controls. Increased number of eosinophils in bone marrow were found in the predialysis uremic group and this finding was even more accentuated in the dialyzed patients.

PAs are intracellular regulators of growth and anabolic processes. Toxic properties of PAs are conferred according to the increasing number of cationic charges. In uremia, PA accumulation occurs both in and outside the cell. Decreased PA synthesis and blunted PA pathway responses suggest PAs may participate in cellular down regulation.

Anemia is an almost invariable part of the uremic syndrome. The majority of patients have a hemolytic component which is extracorpuscular and unrelated to immune mechanisms or splenic sequestration. In some cases mechanical injury due to abnormalities of vasculature may play a role.

Abstract Uremia refers to high levels of urea in the blood, which usually occur during renal failure due to the inability of the kidneys to excrete urea in the urine. Renal failure leads to the patient having constitutional symptoms, nausea, tremors, and encephalopathy.
