Uric acid and the cardio‐renal effects of SGLT2 inhibitors

open access: yesDiabetes, obesity and metabolism, 2019
Sodium/glucose co‐transporter‐2 (SGLT2) inhibitors, which lower blood glucose by increasing renal glucose elimination, have been shown to reduce the risk of adverse cardiovascular (CV) and renal events in type 2 diabetes. This has been ascribed, in part,

Biochemistry Changes That Occur after Death: Potential Markers for Determining Post-Mortem Interval [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Death is likely to result in very extensive biochemical changes in all body tissues due to lack of circulating oxygen, altered enzymatic reactions, cellular degradation, and cessation of anabolic production of metabolites.

Breaking the Selectivity Barrier of Single‐Atom Nanozymes Through Out‐of‐Plane Ligand Coordination

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Here, Ru SAzyme with out‐of‐plane chlorine ligands is reported as a monofunctional, high‐performance peroxidase‐like nanozyme. Incorporating out‐of‐plane ligand coordination emulates enzyme selectivity and regulates reaction pathways for an identical substrate.

Serum uric acid and risk of cardiovascular mortality: a systematic review and dose-response meta-analysis of cohort studies of over a million participants

open access: yesBMC Cardiovascular Disorders, 2019
BackgroundCardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death worldwide. Some studies have suggested anassociation between serum uric acid levels and cardiovascular mortality; however, the results have not been summarized in a meta-analysis ...

Hubungan Antara Peningkatan Kadar Asam Urat Darah dengan Kejadian Hipertensi di RSUD Sukoharjo [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Background : Hypertension is responsible for target organ damage, but usually people with hypertension do not have any visible sign and symptom, so they dont realize having hypertension. The prevalence of hypertension is increasing by years.

Spatial Coordination Structure‐Driven Enzyme‐Like Selectivity in Single‐Atom Nanozymes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Sun et al. reviews recent progress in enhancing the enzyme‐like catalytic selectivity of SAzymes through the rational design of their spatial coordination structures. They emphasize the structure‐activity relationships of various attributes of these coordination structures in promoting selective catalytic behavior, the strategic design of coordination ...

The Paradoxical Role of Uric Acid in Osteoporosis

open access: yesNutrients, 2019
Because of its high prevalence worldwide, osteoporosis is considered a serious public health concern. Many known risk factors for developing osteoporosis have been identified and are crucial if planning health care needs. Recently, an association between

Fabrication and Characterization of PEDOT:PSS‐Based Microstructured Electrodes for In Vitro Cell Culture

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Poly(3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene) poly(styrene sulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS)‐based microstructured electrodes are fabricated using vacuum soft lithography as an alternative to conventional methods. This novel fabrication approach enables the production of scalable and cost‐effective bioelectronic devices.

Dietary Antioxidant Supplements and Uric Acid in Chronic Kidney Disease: A Review

open access: yesNutrients, 2019
Increased serum levels of uric acid have been associated with the onset and development of chronic kidney disease (CKD), cardiovascular disease, and mortality, through several molecular pathogenetic mechanisms, such as inflammation and oxidative stress ...

Hubungan Kadar Asam Urat Serum Dengan Kadar High-sensitivity C-reactive Protein Pada Remaja Obes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
: Uric acid has low water solubility. When the concentration exceeds its solubility, it will form monosodium urate (MSU) crystals which can trigger inflammation.
