Biosynthesis of Plant Glycosides from Uridine Diphosphate Glucose

Nature, 1958
THE formation of glycosides and gentiobiosides after adding phenols or other substances to whole plant tissues has been observed by several workers1–3. Extracts of Vicia faba were reported by Miwa et al. 4 to form glucosides from vanillin, salicylaldehyde and hydroquinone.

Synthesis of uridine diphosphate [1-3H]glucose and uridine diphosphate [6-3H]glucose

Chemistry of Natural Compounds, 1987
Information is given on the synthesis of tritium-labeled UDPG by the successive transformation of D-[1-3H]glucose or D-[6-3H]glucose by the action of the enzymes hexokinase (EC 2.7.1.1), phosphoglucomutase (EC 2.7.5.1), and UDPG-pyrophosphorylase (EC 2.7.7.9) under conditions ensuring the retention of the tritium label.

Some synthetic analogues of uridine diphosphate glucose

Tetrahedron, 1963
Abstract In order to investigate the mechanisms of uridine diphosphate glucose enzymic reactions, a number of analogues with modified uracyl residues were synthesized by the morpholidate method. 3-N-Methyl-uridine (I), 4-thiouridine (II), cytidine (III), 2-thiouridine (IV), iso-cytidine (V) and 6-azauridine (VI) diphosphate α- D -glucopyranoses were ...

Histochemical demonstration of uridine diphosphate glucose dehydrogenase

Experientia, 1961

Uridine diphosphate glucose dehydrogenase of rat tissue

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Enzymology, 1971
1. 1. UDP-glucose dehydrogenase (UDP-glucose:NAD+ oxidoreductase, EC 1.1.1.22) from rat liver was purified over 200-fold, and some of its properties were elucidated. 2. 2. The enzyme has a pH optimum of 8.9; the Km is 0.023 mM for UDP-glucose and 0.081 mM for NAD+. 3. 3.

Measurements of uridine diphosphate glucose and uridine diphosphate galactose — an appraisal

European Journal of Pediatrics, 1995
The recent disproof of a major deficiency of uridine diphosphate galactose in galactosemia should not lead investigators to assume either that enzymatic methods are unreliable for uridine sugar assays or that a defect in galactosylation in galactosemia has been excluded.

Blood Uridine Diphosphate Glucose in Mental Disease

British Journal of Psychiatry, 1969
Neither older (Raiman, 1902; Ehrenberg, 1909; Wigert, 1918; Reiter, 1925) nor more recent papers (Diethelm, 1936; McFarland and Goldstein, 1939; Holmgren and Wohlfarhrt, 1944) provide general agreement about impairment of glucose tolerance in mental disease.

[107] Isolation of uridine diphosphate glucose, uridine diphosphate acetylglucosamine, and guanosine diphosphate mannose

1963
Publisher Summary This chapter describes the isolation of uridine diphosphate glucose, uridine diphosphate acetylglucosamine, and guanosine diphosphate mannose. The basic principle is that alcoholic extract from toluene-autolyzed yeast is fractionated on anion-exchange columns.
