Measurements of uridine diphosphate glucose and uridine diphosphate galactose — an appraisal

European Journal of Pediatrics, 1995
The recent disproof of a major deficiency of uridine diphosphate galactose in galactosemia should not lead investigators to assume either that enzymatic methods are unreliable for uridine sugar assays or that a defect in galactosylation in galactosemia has been excluded.

Uridine Diphosphate Glucose: the Coenzyme of the Galactose–Glucose Phosphate Isomerization [PDF]

open access: yesNature, 1950
A PREVIOUS report1 dealt with the enzymatic conversion of galactose-1-phosphate into glucose-1-phosphate and mentioned that a thermostable factor is necessary for the reaction. This factor has now been obtained practically pure, and for reasons given below will be referred to as uridine diphosphate glucose.

Synthesis of uridine diphosphate [1-3H]glucose and uridine diphosphate [6-3H]glucose

Chemistry of Natural Compounds, 1987
Information is given on the synthesis of tritium-labeled UDPG by the successive transformation of D-[1-3H]glucose or D-[6-3H]glucose by the action of the enzymes hexokinase (EC 2.7.1.1), phosphoglucomutase (EC 2.7.5.1), and UDPG-pyrophosphorylase (EC 2.7.7.9) under conditions ensuring the retention of the tritium label.

The expression of uridine diphosphate glucuronosyltransferase gene is a major determinant of bilirubin level in heterozygous beta-thalassaemia and in glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency

open access: yesBritish Journal of Haematology, 1997
We evaluated the effect of Gilbert's syndrome, the most common defect of bilirubin conjugation, on the bilirubin levels of subjects with inherited haematological disorders which cause increased bilirubin production.

GLYCOGEN SYNTHESIS FROM URIDINE DIPHOSPHATE GLUCOSE [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Cell Biology, 1961
The distribution in liver cell fractions of UDPG-glycogen transferase has been studied. In fasting animals which have been refed 6 hours before sacrifice, the distribution of the enzyme in the various cell fractions can be correlated with the glycogen content of each fraction.

The enzymatic transformation of uridine diphosphate glucose into a galactose derivative [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1951
Abstract Treatment of uridine diphosphate glucose (UDPG) with an enzyme of S. fragilis was found to produce about 25% of a galactose-containing compound. This compound is precipitated with mercuric ions like UDPG, and its migration in chromatography in acid-ethanol is similar.
