Neurogenic Defects Occur in LRIG2-Associated Urinary Bladder Disease

open access: yesKidney International Reports, 2023
Urofacial, or Ochoa, syndrome (UFS) is an autosomal recessive disease featuring a dyssynergic bladder with detrusor smooth muscle contracting against an undilated outflow tract. It also features an abnormal grimace. Half of individuals with UFS carry biallelic variants in HPSE2, whereas other rare families carry variants in LRIG2.LRIG2 is ...

Renal Clearable Luminogenic Reporter for Ultrasensitive Influenza Virus Imaging and Efficient Antiviral Therapies Monitoring in Living Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A viral luminogenic reporter with chemiluminescence/fluorescence dual‐response and efficient renal clearance was developed for non‐invasive imaging and urinalysis of H1N1 virus protease, allowing for remote detection of H1N1 virus infections and monitoring of antiviral therapeutic efficacy in living mice.

UCtracker: A Deep Learning–Based DNA Methylation Model for Noninvasive Diagnosis and Recurrence Surveillance of Urothelial Carcinoma in a Prospective Study

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We developed UCtracker, a urine DNA methylation–based deep learning model, for noninvasive diagnosis and postoperative surveillance of urothelial carcinoma. UCtracker demonstrates high diagnostic accuracy, robustness at ultralow sequencing depth, early recurrence detection, and dynamic risk‐stratified monitoring of molecular residual disease ...

Dynamic changes of urinary microbiota in patients with bladder cancer after surgery and its clinical significance

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology
Bladder cancer is one of the most common malignancies of the urogenital system, with a high incidence and mortality. The treatment of bladder cancer is diverse, with surgical treatment being the most common approach, including transurethral resection of ...

A multi-stage genome-wide association study of bladder cancer identifies multiple susceptibility loci [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We conducted a multi-stage, genome-wide association study of bladder cancer with a primary scan of 591,637 SNPs in 3,532 affected individuals (cases) and 5,120 controls of European descent from five studies followed by a replication strategy, which ...

Natural Product Toosendanin Suppresses the Malignant Development of Skin Melanoma by Targeting BNC2 for Degradation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
BNC2 exhibits context‐dependent opposing functions across multiple cancer types. This study reveals BNC2 as an oncogenic driver of melanoma proliferation and metastasis through transcriptional activation of PIK3CA. The natural compound TSN simultaneously degrades BNC2 and its oncogenic partner SMAD3 via CRBN‐dependent ubiquitination.

Chemoenzymatic Radiosynthesis of a Gluconate Transporter‐Targeted In Vivo Bacterial Sensor From Clinical [18F]FDG

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
An efficient radiosynthesis of fluorine‐18 labeled gluconic acid ([18F]FGA) was developed using two readily available materials, 2‐deoxy‐2‐[18F]fluoro‐D‐glucose ([18F]FDG) and glucose oxidase. [18F]FGA is highly specific for bacterial gluconate metabolism mediated by gluconate permease (GntP) and gluconate kinase (GntK), with rapid clearance, low off ...
