Adjustment of Urinary Concentration to Urinary Volume in Relation to Erythrocyte and Plasma Concentrations: An Evaluation of Urinary Heavy Metals and Organic Substances

Archives of Environmental Health: An International Journal, 1986
The effects of urinary volume on adjusted and nonadjusted urinary excretion of 11 heavy metals and organic substances were examined in relation to plasma and erythrocyte concentrations in 19 metal workers under conditions of water restriction and loading. Blood lead concentrations in these workers ranged from 25 to 59 micrograms/dl.

Monitoring urinary bladder volume and detecting post‐operative urinary retention in children with an ultrasound scanner

Acta Anaesthesiologica Scandinavica, 2005
Background:  Post‐operative urinary retention (PUR) is associated with a risk of over‐distension and permanent detrusor damage. The prevention of PUR by routine catheterization may increase the risk of urinary tract infection. Post‐operative monitoring of the bladder volume is a reliable method in adults, but has not been evaluated for reliability in ...

Effects of Chlorpromazine on Fear-Motivated Behavior, Urinary Cortisol, Urinary Volume and Heart Rate in the Dog

Psychological Reports, 1976
Several doses of chlorpromazine (6.25, 12.5, 25.0 mg) were administered to dogs while they were subjected to a Sidman nondiscriminated avoidance schedule which contained 7 conditioned stimuli-unavoidable shock (CS-US) pairings. The drug consistently reduced baseline response rate and enhanced shock rate.

Cell volume regulation in frog urinary bladder.

Federation proceedings, 1985
We have studied the problem of cell volume homeostasis in toad and frog urinary bladder by using electrophysiological measurements and an optical measure of cell volume. After osmotically induced swelling, urinary bladder cells spontaneously regulate their volume through a net loss of potassium, chloride, and water.

A study of circadian rhythmicity in urinary volume excretion.

2012
This research investigated the presence of circadian rhythmicity in urinary volume excretion. A retrospective study medical record was completed to investigate the occurrence of rhythmic variation. Twenty-five subjects were utilized to gather urinary volume data, collected at either four- or six-hour intervals.
