Comparison of urine dipstick and albumin:creatinine ratio for chronic kidney disease screening: A population-based study.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2017
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is usually diagnosed using the estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) or kidney damage markers. The urine dipstick test is a widely used screening tool for albuminuria, a CKD marker. Although the urine albumin:creatinine

Urine testing to differentiate glomerular from tubulointerstitial diseases on kidney biopsy

open access: yesPractical Laboratory Medicine, 2022
Background: Differentiating between glomerular and tubulointerstitial diseases can guide selection of appropriate patients for kidney biopsy. The aim of this study is to identify urine tests that can differentiate between these histological diagnoses ...

Urine Specimens from Pregnant and Nonpregnant Women Inhibitory to Amplification of \u3cem\u3eChlamydia trachomatis\u3c/em\u3e Nucleic Acid by PCR, Ligase Chain Reaction, and Transcription-Mediated Amplification: Identification of Urinary Substances Associated with Inhibition and Removal of Inhibitory Activity [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
The presence of endogenous amplification inhibitors in urine may produce false-negative results for the detection of Chlamydia trachomatis nucleic acids by tests such as PCR, ligase chain reaction (LCR), and transcription-mediated amplification (TMA ...

Evaluation of a dipstick test for glucose in urine.

open access: yesClinical Chemistry, 1976
Abstract As an example of qualitative tests, a dipstick analysis for glucose in urine has been tested for the influence of modifying factors on the test result. Two different types of dipsticks were examined, "Clinistix" and "S-Gluko-test." Used according to manufacturer's instructions, the latter is more sensitive and selective.

SGLT2 inhibitors and mortality in older adults with diabetic kidney disease: A target trial emulation study

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, EarlyView.
Abstract Aims Randomized controlled trials on sodium‐glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors have yielded inconsistent findings regarding mortality benefits. It remains unclear whether, and in which subgroups, SGLT2 inhibitors confer survival benefits in older adults with diabetic kidney disease (DKD).

Relationships among urinary protein‐to‐creatinine ratio, urine specific gravity, and bacteriuria in canine urine samples

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Internal Medicine, 2019
Background Proteinuria is a marker of chronic kidney disease in dogs and a risk factor for increased morbidity and death. Predictive models using the results of readily available screening tests could foster early recognition.

Exploring a Subpopulation of MASLD Associated With New Onset of CKD Using Supervised Clustering Techniques

open access: yesHepatology Research, EarlyView.
The supervised clustering of metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) using a SHapley Additive exPlanations (SHAP)‐converted matrix reveals distinct subpopulations that improved risk stratification for new onset of chronic kidney disease (CKD).
