Elimination of human cytomegalovirus DNA degradation in urine
Journal of Medical Virology, 2021AbstractCongenital cytomegalovirus infection (cCMVi) is an important cause of sensorineural hearing loss in newborns. Detection of human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) DNA in urine has been used to screen for cCMVi in newborns. However, the matrix effect of urine on HCMV DNA detection is unclear. To evaluate the matrix effect of urine on HCMV DNA detection and

Ingested Mineral Fibers: Elimination in Human Urine
Science, 1979Sediment in human urine examined by transmission electron microscopy contains amphibole fibers which originate from the ingestion of drinking water contaminated with these mineral fibers. The ingestion of filtered water results in the eventual disappearance of amphibole fibers from urine.

n-Hexane urine elimination and weighted exposure concentration
International Archives of Occupational and Environmental Health, 1984The concentration of n-hexane in urine was determined in 30 subjects occupationally exposed to n-hexane (median value 59.6 mg/m3) in a shoe factory. The measurement of the substance was performed by means of a Hewlett-Packard 5880 gas chromatograph supplied with a Hewlett-Packard 5970 Mass Selective Detector.

Impact of eliminating reflex urine cultures on performed urine cultures and antibiotic use
American Journal of Infection Control, 2016Inappropriate treatment of asymptomatic bacteriuria is often the result of unnecessary urinalyses and urine cultures. This study aimed to determine the impact of stopping the practice of reflex urine cultures. Our study demonstrated that stopping urine reflex cultures decreased the number of urine cultures performed and there was a trend toward a ...

[Elimination of N,N-dimethyltryptamine by urine].
Acta psiquiatrica y psicologica de America latina, 1994N,N-dimethiltryptamine (DMT) in urine has been quantified on an 83-psychiatric patient sample. Sample covered patients who had sometimes been administered neuroleptic drugs as well as patients with some particular symptomatology associated to psychotic disorders such as hallucinations, delusions, perception disorders, etc. 43.3% (36 cases) evidenced an

Does Urine Alkalinization Increase Salicylate Elimination? If so, Why?
Toxicological Reviews, 2003Urine alkalinization is a treatment regimen that increases poison elimination by the administration of intravenous sodium bicarbonate to produce urine with a pH > or = 7.5. Experimental and clinical studies confirm that urinary alkalinization increases salicylate elimination, although the mechanisms by which this occurs have not been elucidated.

Uric Acid Elimination in the Urine
2004Uric acid, a weak organic acid, has very low pH-dependent solubility in aqueous solutions. About 70% of urate elimination occurs in urine, the kidney standing as a major determinant of plasma levels. The complex renal handling results in a fractional clearance of less than 10%.
