Molecular dating of phylogenetic divergence between Urochloa species based on complete chloroplast genomes

open access: yesBMC Genomics, 2017
Background Forage species of Urochloa are planted in millions of hectares of tropical and subtropical pastures in South America. Most of the planted area is covered with four species (U. ruziziensis, U. brizantha, U. decumbens and U.

Priming of Urochloa brizantha cv. Xaras seeds [PDF]

open access: yesAfrican Journal of Agricultural Research, 2018
Priming is one of the several physiological methods used to increase the performance of seeds. To evaluate the effects of priming, seeds of Urochloa brizantha cv. Xaraes were primed under different osmotic potentials (ys = 0.0; -0.5; -1.0 and -1.5 MPa) and temperatures (15 and 25°C) for 24, 48, 96 and 144 h.

Desempenho produtivo de cultivares de Brachiaria brizantha (syn. Urochloa brizantha) submetidas à adubação orgânica

open access: yesResearch, Society and Development, 2021

Lasting effect of Urochloa brizantha on a common bean-wheat-maize rotation in a medium-term no-till system

open access: yesFrontiers in Sustainable Food Systems, 2023
Grass intercropping under no-till is an option to increase crop residues on the soil surface and crop diversity. Urochloa spp. is frequently selected for intercropping to improve land use and agricultural production because of its high residue production,

Root Microbiota: Orchestrating Architecture-Smart Crops. [PDF]

open access: yesMicrob Biotechnol
Root‐associated microbiota play an important role in shaping crop architecture. The concept of “holobiont architecture” is proposed, in which plant architecture is dynamically fine‐tuned through synergistic plant–microbiome interactions. This framework offers novel avenues for breeding architecture‐smart crops with improved phenotypic plasticity and ...

How does the condition of the pasture in late winter influence the plant and animal responses in the subsequent seasons?

open access: yesBioscience Journal, 2022
This study aimed to test the hypotheses: (i) the deferred pasture with lower height in late winter has greater herbage accumulation rate (HAR) and better structure, which facilitates the animal selective grazing during the subsequent spring and summer ...
