[Hemagglutination patterns of uropathogenic Escherichia coli].
An hemagglutination (HA) type system has been applied to demonstrate mannose sensitive (MS) and mannose resistant (MR) hemagglutination produced by Escherichia coli isolated from urinary tract infections. Hemagglutination types were obtained by the agglutination of different species of red cells -human, bovine, chicken and guinea pig- suspended in ...

Uropathogenic Escherichia coli--a preliminary study.
Urinary isolates of Escherichia coli were studied for presence of haemolysin, adhesins, serum resistance and O serotype prevalence. Of the 144 isolates studied, 72 exhibited hemolysin, 7 were resistant to bactericidal effect of serum and 50 strains showed Mannose resistant Haemagglutination (MRHA).

Regulation and binding properties of S fimbriae cloned from E. coli strains causing urinary tract infection and meningitis [PDF]
S fimbriae are able to recognize receptor molecules containing sialic acid and are produced by pathogenic E. coli strains causing urinary tract infection and menigitis.
