Cornus mas and Cornus Officinalis—Analogies and Differences of Two Medicinal Plants Traditionally Used [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Among 65 species belonging to the genus Cornus only two, Cornus mas L. and Cornus officinalis Sieb. et Zucc. (Cornaceae), have been traditionally used since ancient times.

Determination of ursolic acid and ursolic acid lactone in the leaves of Eucalyptus tereticornis by HPLC [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Brazilian Chemical Society, 2012
A simple isocratic HPLC method has been developed for the simultaneous quantification of two bioactive triterpenes, ursolic acid and ursolic acid lactone in E. tereticornis leaves. Samples were analyzed on RP-18 (4.6 × 250 mm, 5 µm) column with methanol and water acidified to pH 3.5 with TFA (88:12) at 210 nm.

Phytochemical‐Based Strategies for Lung Cancer: Clinical Insights Into Pleiotropic Molecular Signaling and Therapeutic Roles

open access: yesPhytotherapy Research, EarlyView.
Lung cancer (LC) remains the leading cause of global cancer‐related death. Phytochemicals from medicinal plants are increasingly being considered as potential LC treatment agents due to their multi‐targeted action, safety, and accessibility. These have anticancer properties by regulating key molecular signaling pathways.

Constituintes químicos de Hyptidendron canum (Pohl ex Benth.) R. Harley (Lamiaceae)

open access: yesQuímica Nova, 2011
Chemical investigation of Hyptidendron canum stems resulted in the isolation of betulinic, ursolic and euscaphic acids. From the leaves were isolated 3β-O-β-galactopiranosilsitosterol, ursolic aldehyde, and mixtures of maslinic acid and 2α-hydroxyursolic

Measuring oxidative DNA damage and DNA repair using the yeast comet assay [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Chromosomal DNA damage can be a result of several processes and agents of endogenous or exogenous origin. These cause strand breaks or oxidized bases that lead to strand breaks, which relax the normally supercoiled genomic DNA and increase its ...

Enhancement of Platelet Aggregation by Ursolic Acid and Oleanolic Acid [PDF]

open access: yesBiomolecules & Therapeutics, 2014
The pentacyclic triterpenoid ursolic acid (UA) and its isomer oleanolic acid (OA) are ubiquitous in food and plant medicine, and thus are easily exposed to the population through natural contact or intentional use. Although they have diverse health benefits, reported cardiovascular protective activity is contentious. In this study, the effect of UA and

The Effect of Myrtacine and Celastrol‐Enriched Extract on Cutibacterium acnes Extracellular Vesicles

open access: yesInternational Journal of Dermatology, EarlyView.
Myrtacine alone, Celastrol‐enriched extract alone, or the combination of both ingredients were added to the culture medium either before (preventive condition) or after (modulating condition) incubation with C. acnes IA1 extracellular vesicles (EVs) from healthy and acne skin in immortalized keratinocytes (HaCaT cells) and human skin explants.

Synthesis and Cytotoxic Activity of Conjugates of Mitochondrial-Directed Cationic Compound F16 with Ursane-Structure Triterpenic Acids Containing a Polyhydroxylated A-ring

open access: yesChemistry Proceedings, 2023
We chemically linked corosolic and asiatic acids and a synthetic polyoxygenated analogue of ursolic acid via an alkyl linker to the cationic mitochondrial targeting compound F16 (4-(1H-indole-3-ylvinyl)-N-methylpyridinium iodide).
