Organic Synthesis Using Nitroxides
Chemical Reviews, 2023Nitroxides, also known as nitroxyl radicals, are long-lived or stable radicals with the general structure R1R2N-O•. The spin distribution over the nitroxide N and O atoms contributes to the thermodynamic stability of these radicals. The presence of bulky N-substituents R1 and R2 prevents nitroxide radical dimerization, ensuring their kinetic stability.

Organic Oxidations Using Geomimicry
The Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2015Oxidations of phenylacetic acid to benzaldehyde, benzyl alcohol to benzaldehyde, and benzaldehyde to benzoic acid have been observed, in water as the solvent and using only copper(II) chloride as the oxidant. The reactions are performed at 250 °C and 40 bar, conditions that mimic hydrothermal reactions that are geochemically relevant.

Pediatric Donor Management Goals in Use by US Organ Procurement Organizations
Progress in Transplantation, 2019Introduction: A recent study of pediatric organ donation after the neurologic determination of death (DNDD) demonstrated an association between the use of donor management goals (DMGs) by organ procurement organizations (OPOs) and organ yield. Objective: To describe the pediatric DMGs used by OPOs and any association between specific DMGs and organ ...

US Organ Donation Breakthrough Collaborative Increases Organ Donation
Critical Care Nursing Quarterly, 2008More than 92000 Americans are on waiting lists for organ transplants, and an average of 17 of them die each day while waiting. The US Organ Donation Breakthrough Collaborative (ODBC), which began in 2003 at the request of the Secretary of the US Department of Health and Human Services, was a formal, concerted effort of the donation and transplantation ...
