Behavioral issues in the use of interactive systems

International Journal of Human-Computer Studies, 1977
This paper identifies behavioral issues related to the use of interactive computers primarily by persons who are not computer professionals, so-called ‚general users.‘ This is not an exhaustive literature survey but instead provides: (1) a structure for discussing issues of interactive computing, and (2) the authors' best estimate of important ...

Behavioral Bioassays and Their Uses in Tetrahymena

2012
The swimming behaviors of Tetrahymena can be used in sensitive behavioral bioassays for estimating the effects of drugs, mutations, and other conditions on the physiological state of the cell. These assays can be used in both forward and reverse genetic approaches to help understand cellular functions from genotype to phenotype.

Psychedelic Use and Behavioral Addictions

Journal of Psychoactive Drugs
Recent clinical trials on classic psychedelics for depression and anxiety have raised questions about their potential to treat other psychiatric conditions. Evidence from pre-clinical and clinical research suggests psychedelics may help with substance use disorders, with ongoing registered trials.

Driver behavior profiling using smartphones

16th International IEEE Conference on Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITSC 2013), 2013
The proliferation of smartphones and mobile devices embedding different types of sensors sets up a prodigious and distributed sensing platform. In particular, in the last years there has been an increasing necessity to monitor drivers to identify bad driving habits in order to optimize fuel consumption, to reduce CO2 emissions or, indeed, to design new

USE OF MEPHENOXALONE IN BEHAVIORAL PROBLEMS

American Journal of Psychiatry, 1962
Mephenoxalone appears to be a useful medication for cases demonstrating 14 and 6 per second spikings. Its activity warrants further investigation in the areas of brain damage, especially in the so-called diffuse brain damaged child. Mephenoxalone was used in 31 children with various diagnoses.

Using Principles of Behavior Modification to Teach Behavior Modification

Exceptional Children, 1976
The basis for a commonly found experience that a person tends to teach the way he has been taught rather than the way he has been told to teach is explained. Principles of behavior modification are reviewed. Positive and negative examples are provided for applying the principles to the teaching of these principles to others.

The Use of Behavioral Assessment

Diagnostique, 1982
The popularity of the term behavioral has reached the assessment process, and requires an analysis of its appropriate place. The specification of behavior is considered important for understanding the nature of a referral, to match treatment objectives, and to evaluate the success of intervention.

Why Is the Good Behavior Game Used for Bad Behavior? Recommendations for Using It for Promoting Good Behavior

Beyond Behavior, 2019
Although the good behavior game (GBG) has a long empirical record for effectively decreasing inappropriate student behavior, there are fewer studies that have targeted improving appropriate behavior. This article describes why and how the GBG can be used by teachers across grade levels and situations to increase student appropriate behavior and benefit

The Use of Playbacks in Behavioral Experiments

2019
Playback is a ubiquitous technique for the controlled manipulation and presentation of animal signals, and has become an invaluable tool in the study of animal communication. Playback stimuli can be manipulated or unmanipulated samples of natural signals, or they can be mathematically constructed de novo based on models of signal structure or signal ...

Evolving Robot’s Behavior by Using CNNs

2006
This paper deals with a new kind of robotic control, based on Chua's nonlinear circuit called Cellular Neural Network (CNN) A CNN is a net of coupled circuits, connected in a grid structure, which inherits its features and properties from the well known Artificial Neural Network and Cellular Automata It has been demonstrated that CNNs are able of ...
