Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Subcarrier-users nomination process for downlink NOMA system

open access: yesAutomatika
The non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) characteristics of 5G radio access allow for more efficient resource distribution. NOMA improves spectral efficiency by allowing Power domain users to transmit power concurrently with other users of time and ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Joint user grouping and resource allocation for uplink virtual MIMO systems

open access: yes, 2016
MIMO has become a core technology of 5G network to largely improve system throughput. Due to the cost and size of the user equipment (UE), the application of MIMO uplink is limited by the difficulty in practical implementation at the user side.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Perceptual grouping principles in user interfaces

open access: yes

Introducing User Grouping to Counteract Channel Correlation in IRS-Assisted ISAC

open access: yes
Intelligent reflective surface (IRS) assisted integrated sensing and communications (ISAC) is a promising technology for future mobile communications. However, high channel correlation, which may significantly degrade the performance of ISAC, has been ...

Two-Stage Power Allocation for IRS-Assisted Downlink NOMA: Intra-Group Optimization and Inter-Group Allocation

open access: yesIEEE Access
Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) has emerged as a key enabler for massive connectivity in next-generation networks, while Intelligent Reflecting Surfaces (IRS) provide a transformative approach to enhancing spectral efficiency by reconfiguring the ...
