Ustilaginoidin M1, a new bis-naphtho-γ-pyrone from the fungus Villosiclava virens

open access: yesNatural Product Research, 2019
Ustilaginoidin M1 (1), a novel bis-naphtho-γ-pyrone, was isolated from the cultures of the fungus Villosiclava virens which was the pathogen of rice false smut disease. Its structure was elucidated by spectroscopic analysis and by comparison of its physical and spectroscopic data with the literature.

Regioselektive Oxidative Phenolkupplung durch eine Unspezifische Peroxygenase aus Ständerpilzen

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 136, Issue 42, October 14, 2024.

Regioselective Oxidative Phenol Coupling by a Mushroom Unspecific Peroxygenase

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, Volume 63, Issue 42, October 14, 2024.
The phlegmacin biosynthesis in the mushroom Cortinarius odorifer reveals that CoUPO1, an unspecific peroxygenase, catalyzes the dimerization step by regio‐ and stereoselective oxidative phenol coupling. This study demonstrates that mushrooms evolved aryl coupling independently of any other group of organisms.

Data_Sheet_1_Sorbicillinoids From the Fungus Ustilaginoidea virens and Their Phytotoxic, Cytotoxic, and Antimicrobial Activities.PDF

open access: yes, 2019
Ustilaginoidea virens, the causal fungus of rice false smut, was found in previous studies to produce two types of metabolites, ustiloxins and ustilaginoidins. However, genome sequencing of U.

Metabolic Products of Fungi. XXVI. Synthesis of racemic Ustilaginoidin A and Its Related Compounds. (1). Synthesis of 2.2', 4.4', 5.5', 7.7'-Octamethoxy-1.1'-binaphthalene (=Product A Octamethyl Ether).

open access: yesChemical and Pharmaceutical Bulletin, 1967
Octamethyl ether of product A which was derived from ustilaginoidin A by alkaline degradation was synthesized by the Ullmann condensation of dimethyl ether of 5-bromo-6, 8-dimethyl-1, 3-naphthalenediol (XXI). Starting from 3, 5-dimethoxyphenylacetic acid (IX), the 2-bromo derivative (VII) was prepared which was C-acetylated to afford XX, and then ...

The transcription factor UvCreA regulates ustilaginoidin synthesis and pathogenicity in Ustilaginoidea virens

open access: yes
Abstract Ustilaginoidea virens generates several types of mycotoxins, including ustilaginoidins during infection. The transcription factor CreA plays a central role in carbon catabolite repression, coordinating carbon source utilization during fungal growth, development, and host infection.
