Spatial Patterns of Historical Changes in Human Heat Stress Disagree Across Metrics
Abstract A robust estimation of how heat stress is changing worldwide is complicated by the variety of heat stress metrics in use. This study compares heat stress changes between 1979–2000 and 2001–2023 across five commonly used metrics calculated with ERA5 reanalysis data.

UTCI-Fiala multi-node model of human heat transfer and temperature regulation [PDF]
The UTCI-Fiala mathematical model of human temperature regulation forms the basis of the new Universal Thermal Climate Index (UTC). Following extensive validation tests, adaptations and extensions, such as the inclusion of an adaptive clothing model, the model was used to predict human temperature and regulatory responses for combinations of the ...

Microclimate, Soil and Plant Dataset From a Mediterranean Urban Canyon With Irrigated Planters
A comprehensive dataset from an instrumented urban canyon in Montpellier (France) investigates how vegetation type and irrigation influence the microclimate. The information supports thermal process analysis, model validation and strategies for optimising water resources to mitigate urban heatwaves.

Variability of the UTCI index in Serbia [PDF]
The main task of this paper is the assessment of bioclimatic conditions in Serbia. A special emphasis have been given to the heat budget bioclimatic Universal Thermal Climate Index (UTCI) whose purpose is to evaluate degree of thermal stress that human body is exposed to.

Multi‐Method Integrated Approach to Assess Human Climate Comfort in Iran
Evaluating human thermal comfort in Iran through a multi‐method approach, this study analyzes 30 climatic and ecological variables using a comprehensive data set spanning 38 years (1984–2022). By integrating techniques such as principal component analysis, multivariate regression, cluster analysis, spatial modeling, machine learning, and artificial ...

UNIVERSAL THERMAL CLIMATE INDEX (UTCI) APPLIED TO DETERMINE THRESHOLDS FOR TEMPERATURE-RELATED MORTALITY [PDF]
Our research goal was to examine a response in mortality among population in Arkhangelsk caused by exposure to high and low temperatures. We determined the best available mortality predictor out of air temperature and Universal Thermal Climate Index that characterizes how people feel temperature and detected threshold temperatures depending on sex, age,

Comprehensive phylogeny of Xanthopygina rove beetles (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae), including 30 of 33 genera, was generated by anchored hybrid enrichment of 1229 nuclear, protein‐encoding loci. We resolved nine major clades within Xanthopygina, including the new Leptodiastemus group, and successfully delineated a monophyletic concept of Gastrisus ...

Use of the UTCI in the Czech Republic
The new Universal Thermal Climate Index (UTCI) was designed for use in the human bioclimatology and biometeorology field. This article describes a set of basic tests used to test the UTCI. These tests were made using real data from selected meteorological stations in the Czech Republic.
