Ultrasound in Women's Health: Mechanisms, Applications, and Emerging Opportunities

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 38, Issue 14, 6 March 2026.
As healthcare moves toward decentralization, ultrasound technologies are evolving from strictly imaging tools in clinical settings into versatile diagnostic and therapeutic platforms, with growing roles addressing women's health needs. This review highlights how ultrasound's underlying physical mechanisms can be harnessed to reduce disparities in women'

Avoiding the Pitfall: Ectopic Pelvic Kidney Mimicking a Pelvic Mass in a Patient With Recurrent Urinary Tract Infections. A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 3, March 2026.
A 55‐year‐old woman with recurrent UTIs and a fixed pelvic mass on examination was intially suspected of having a neoplasm. Contrast‐enhanced CT revealed an ectopic pelvic kidney (yellow arrow, adjacent to uterus U), confirming an asymptomatic congenital anomaly as the cause. Imaging is essential to avoid misdiagnosis and iatrogenic injury.

Overview of Diagnostic Ultrasound Safety

open access: yesJournal of Ultrasound in Medicine, Volume 45, Issue 3, Page 487-496, March 2026.
Ultrasound is widely regarded as a safe imaging modality; however, emerging ultrasound‐based techniques—such as shear wave elastography and contrast‐enhanced ultrasound—operate with varying acoustic output parameters that may approach or exceed traditional diagnostic limits. As these technologies are increasingly integrated into human research studies,

Myogenic Differentiation on 3D‐Printed Interpenetrating Bioactive Hydrogel of Decellularised Human Placenta With Fish Scale Gelatin

open access: yesMedComm – Biomaterials and Applications, Volume 5, Issue 1, March 2026.
Study outlines fabrication of tailorable decellularised human placenta and fish scale gelatin‐based hydrogels. Decellularisation with ultrasonication reduced time and ECM damage. Hydrogels were assessed for structural integrity and cytocompatibility, showing myogenic differentiation with aligned myotubes (C2C12) and myoblasts (HAMSCs).

Predicting intrauterine vacuum‐induced postpartum hemorrhage‐control device treatment success

open access: yesPregnancy, Volume 2, Issue 2, March 2026.
Abstract Objective To identify predictors of postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) treatment success with the JADA intrauterine vacuum‐induced hemorrhage‐control device in post‐market settings. Methods We performed a retrospective cohort study of PPH managed using the JADA system across 16 centers in the United States (NCT04995887). Treatment success was defined

Recovery After Transcervical Fibroid Ablation Versus Minimally Invasive Myomectomy for Symptomatic Uterine Fibroids: A Randomised Controlled Trial

open access: yesBJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics &Gynaecology, Volume 133, Issue 4, Page 618-625, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective To evaluate early recovery outcomes with transcervical fibroid ablation (TFA) compared to minimally invasive myomectomy (MIM) in women with symptomatic uterine fibroids. Design Randomised controlled trial. Setting Tübingen University Hospital (Tübingen, Germany).
