Photodynamic priming overcomes platinum resistance from short‐term exposure to select perfluoroalkyl substances in endometrial cancer cell lines

open access: yesPhotochemistry and Photobiology, EarlyView.
PFAS are widespread environmental contaminants that are associated with platinum resistance and mitochondrial membrane hyperpolarization in endometrial cancer cell lines. Photodynamic therapy, using BPD or ALA‐PpIX, in combination with low‐dose carboplatin overcomes PFAS‐induced platinum resistance in endometrial cancer cell lines.

Non‐trophoblastic tumours of the placenta: pathophysiology, diagnosis and management

open access: yesThe Obstetrician &Gynaecologist, Volume 27, Issue 2, Page 91-103, April 2025.
Key content Non‐trophoblastic tumours include chorioangiomas, teratomas, placental mesenchymal dysplasia (PMD), leiomyomas and more rarely hepatocellular adenomas. Ultrasonography is the primary diagnostic modality. Chorioangiomas are the most common benign non‐trophoblastic placental tumour, occurring within 1% of placentas microscopically.

FLOT1 Is a Novel Serum Biomarker of Ovarian Cancer Targeted by N6‐methyladenosine Modification Inhibition

open access: yesCell Biology International, Volume 49, Issue 6, Page 674-691, June 2025.
ABSTRACT Ovarian cancer (OC) is a deadly disease and lacks a precise marker for diagnosis worldwide. Our previous work has shown the overexpression of flotillin‐1 (FLOT1) in OC tissue. To improve diagnostic sensitivity and accuracy, we evaluated the serum level of FLOT1 in OC patients and found that the serum concentration of FLOT1 as well as CA125 was

Differences in the Sonographic Features of Adenomyosis and Concurrent Endometriosis Compared to Isolated Adenomyosis

open access: yesJournal of Ultrasound in Medicine, Volume 44, Issue 6, Page 1077-1084, June 2025.
Objective To examine whether the co‐occurrence of endometriosis affects the sonographic features of adenomyosis based on the revised Morphological Uterus Sonographic Assessment (MUSA) criteria. Methods This prospective cohort study utilized data from a tertiary referral center collected between 2010 and 2022.

A Five‐Year Retrospective Analysis Comparing Morbidity and Mortality Outcomes of Previous Myomectomy Surgical Delivery, and Elective Repeat Caesarean Section

open access: yesReproductive, Female and Child Health, Volume 4, Issue 2, June 2025.
ABSTRACT Objectives To determine the differences in maternal and neonatal morbidity between three groups of women, Group 1, women with a previous myomectomy, (n = 69), Group 2, women who had an elective caesarean section (n = 92), and Group 3, women who have had a previous myomectomy and previous caesarean section (n = 33), who were all delivered by a ...

Magnetic resonance guided high intensity focused ultrasound (MR‐HIFU) effectively reduces fibroid‐related symptoms and improves quality of life—A prospective single‐centre 12‐month follow‐up study

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, Volume 104, Issue 6, Page 1172-1180, June 2025.
MR‐HIFU can offer rapid and sustainable symptom relief for selected symptomatic fibroid patients. The severity of fibroid‐related symptoms was significantly reduced at 3 and 12 months, while the quality of life had increased. In addition, the treatment can be offered to women planning future pregnancies, as no negative effect on future fertility or ...

Cesarean section: One procedure, varied techniques. Detailed observations of 1013 first cesarean sections in a tertiary hospital in Ghana

open access: yesInternational Journal of Gynecology &Obstetrics, Volume 169, Issue 2, Page 707-719, May 2025.
Abstract Objective Cesarean sections (CS) are among the most performed surgical procedures in the world. Small variations in surgical techniques could have a significant impact on a global scale, for example, in postoperative complications. In the present study we aimed to observe and audit every single step used during first time CS.

Deciphering the Molecular Crosstalk of Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress and Immune Infiltration in Endometriosis

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Reproductive Immunology, Volume 93, Issue 5, May 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Endometriosis (EMs), characterized by ectopic endometrial growth causing infertility. Endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS) is an important cellular defense mechanism. However, the correlation between ERS and EMs remains unclear. We aimed to investigate the relationship between them, identify biomarkers, and offer new insights into the
