Sweet and sour: an update on classic galactosemia
Abstract Classic galactosemia is a rare inherited disorder of galactose metabolism caused by deficient activity of galactose‐1‐phosphate uridylyltransferase (GALT), the second enzyme of the Leloir pathway. It presents in the newborn period as a life‐threatening disease, whose clinical picture can be resolved by a galactose‐restricted diet.

Purification and Properties of Hexose 1-Phosphate Uridylyltransferase from Bifidobacterium bifidum
Hexose 1-phosphate uridylyltransferase (EC 2.7.7.12) was present constitutively in Bifidobacterium bifidum. The enzyme was purified to a homogeneous state from B. bifidum grown on a glucose medium and characterized.

Transcriptomic Analysis of Starch Biosynthesis in the Developing Grain of Hexaploid Wheat
The expression of genes involved in starch synthesis in wheat was analyzed together with the accumulation profiles of soluble sugars, starch, protein, and starch granule distribution in developing caryopses obtained from the same biological materials used for profiling of gene expression using DNA microarrays. Multiple expression patterns were detected

Production of Lacto-N-biose I Using Crude Extracts of Bifidobacterial Cells
Lacto-N-biose I (LNB) is supposed to represent the bifidus factor in human milk oligosaccharides, and can be practically produced from sucrose and GlcNAc using four bifidobacterial enzymes, 1,3-β-galactosyl-N-acetylhexosamine phosphorylase, sucrose ...

Evolutionary exploration of a bacterial LPS genotype to phenotype map with phages [PDF]
The evolution of bacterial resistance-to-phage strategies, and the mechanisms by which phages adapt to overcome these strategies, are usually studied via evolution experiments in which phages are added to sensitive bacteria and allowed to co-evolve ...
