Evaluation of the influence of artificial UV ageing of printed images

Proceedings - The Eleventh International Symposium GRID 2022, 2022
The main problems encountered in the long storage of printed or painted images are associated with deterioration of color characteristics and loss of information from them. The changes, that occur are due to the processes of ageing of the inks and papers. Natural ageing is a rather slow process.

Effect of UV Photofunctionalization on Osseointegration in Aged Rats

Implant Dentistry, 2016
This study evaluated the effect of photofunctionalization on osseointegration under the biologically adverse conditions of aging.First of all, bone marrow-derived osteoblastic cells from young (8 weeks old) and aged (15 months old) rats were biologically characterized.

UV aging of fluorescent reflectors

Conference Record of the 1993 IEEE Industry Applications Conference Twenty-Eighth IAS Annual Meeting, 2002
Tests were carried out to investigate the rate of deterioration of fluorescent reflector materials under high irradiance of UV-C radiation. The results show a wide range of aging rate with different materials, some of which may be unacceptable in service.

X‐ray and UV photoelectron spectroscopy of Ag nanoclusters

Surface and Interface Analysis, 2020
The main purpose of the present work is to analyze a series of Ag nanoparticles (NPs) with different size or ligand functionalization by using X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and to identify the differences in the band‐shape and energy peak position of photoemission spectra due to the particle dimension.

UV and chemical aging alter the adsorption behavior of microplastics for tetracycline

Environmental Pollution, 2022
This study evaluates the "vector" effects of different microplastics (MPs) on coexisting pollutants. The adsorption of tetracycline was studied on biodegradable plastics poly(butylene adipate-co-terephthalate) (PBAT) and non-biodegradable plastics polystyrene (PS), polypropylene (PP), and polyethylene (PE) after UV aging and chemical aging.

Photo-catalytic degradation of gaseous formaldehyde by TiO2/UV, Ag/TiO2/UV and Ce/TiO2/UV

Building and Environment, 2012
Abstract As a main indoor air pollutant, formaldehyde was chosen as the aim pollutant. Nano-structured TiO2, Ag–TiO2 and Ce–TiO2 thin films were prepared by sol–gel method at room temperature and used in the photo-catalyst reactor for HCHO decomposition.

Response of Aging Chloroplasts to UV Radiation

1990
Extensive reports are available on degradation of chloroplasts during leaf aging(l). Stress like water deficity(2), high temperature(3) and high light intensity (4,5,6) are demonstrated to accelerate leaf aging, consequently a rapid degradation of chloroplasts. Ultaviolet(UV) radiation is known to produce extensive damages of thylakoid membranes (7,8).

UV-light-induced signal cascades and skin aging

Ageing Research Reviews, 2002
UV irradiation acts as a broad activator of cell surface growth factor and cytokine receptors. This ligand-independent receptor activation induces multiple downstream signaling pathways that regulate expression of multiple genes. These signaling pathways converge to stimulate transcription factor AP-1.

Ageing by UV radiation of an elastomer modified bitumen

Fuel, 2008
Laboratory methods to simulate the short- and long-term ageing occuring during the service life of pure and polymer modified bitumens in a pavement are standardized but none of them takes into account the influence of UV radiations. If the impact of thermal ageing on the degradation of SBS elastomers in bitumens has been extensively studied, there is ...

UV Aging Performance of Asphalt Containing LDHs

Key Engineering Materials, 2014
In this paper the effect of Layered double hydroxides (LDHs) on aging properties of asphalts was studied. The thin film oven test TFOT tests and ultraviolet (UV) aging process were used to simulate short-term and long-term aging of asphalts, respectively.
