UV-Visible Reflectance Spectroscopy
1988Within the last two decades, interfacial electrochemistry has become very much an integral part of modern surface science.(1–6) In the search for a microscopic description of the electrochemical double layer, which obviously is necessary for a detailed understanding of electrode processes, electrochemists have increasingly recognized the potential ...

Vacuum UV Photophysics And Photoionization Spectroscopy
Annual Review of Physical Chemistry, 1989Vacuum ultraviolet frequencies of the electromagnetic spectrum lie in the region in which air absorbs radiation, so experiments must be carried out in a vacuum. In practice, this region extends from about 180 nm to about 30 nm. Below 110 nm is the windowless region in which a LiF window no longer transmits light.

Quantitative spectroscopy with UVES
2008UVES has proven to be a very competitive high-resolution spectrograph and many important scientific results based on UVES spectra have been obtained. Still, there are limitations in the accuracy of flat-fielding, removal of telluric lines and continuum rectification, which affect programs requiring very high signal-to-noise spectra.
