UWB CMOS transmitters for UWB communications
2013 National Conference on Communications (NCC), 2013Development of UWB CMOS transmitters using carrier and impulse techniques is presented. The carrier transmitter designed using a 0.18-µm CMOS process adopts a double-stage switching to enhance RF-power efficiency and reduce dc-power consumption and circuit complexity.

Detecting UWB Radar signals with UWB communication interference
2014 IEEE Military Communications Conference, 2014Ultra wideband (UWB) technology has been widely researched for both radar and communication systems. However, detecting the presence of a signal is essential and challenging for many applications. In this paper, we propose a novel detector for UWB radar signals with UWB communication interference by exploiting the signal cyclic features. A single-cycle

This paper presents the design of UWB transceivers from both system-level and circuit-level perspectives. Following a detailed analysis of the impact of RF imperfections on the performance of the system, we review a number of transceiver and synthesizer architectures that can satisfy the MBOA UWB standard requirements.

The accuracy of ranging of commercially available ultra-wide-band radio module was evaluated. Such modules are capable of very precise measurements of Time of Arrival of RF signal and consequently very precise range measurements or localizations. We measured and compared the distances with the reference distance using one of these commercial modules ...

This paper presents a new transmitted reference ultra- wideband receiver, which utilizes the orthogonal property of even and odd order derivatives of Gaussian pulses in neighboring chips for synchronization. This system, referred to as orthogonal TR-UWB (OTR-UWB), employs only a single spreading code, which results in much lower mean detection time ...

A fully differential analog multiplier for wideband operations is presented. The circuit consists of a p-MOSFET common-gate differential pair input stage for wideband impedance matching, a p-MOSFET Gilbert quad as a multiplier stage, and active loads. The circuit has been designed and fabricated in 90-nm CMOS. The test-chip area is 560 × 700 μm2.

On-body UWB MIMO antenna for UWB application
2013 Asia-Pacific Microwave Conference Proceedings (APMC), 2013In this paper, a UWB MIMO antenna for an on-body application is proposed and antenna performance with body effect and the impact on the human body are investigated. The proposed MIMO antenna is composed of an UWB antenna above ground plane and an additional isolator located between the two antennas to enhance the isolation characteristic.

A direct-conversion ultra-wideband (UWB) transceiver for Mode 1 OFDM applications employs three resonant networks and three phase-locked loops. Using a common-gate input stage, the receiver allows direct sharing of the antenna with the transmitter. Designed in 0.13-/spl mu/m CMOS technology, the transceiver provides a total gain of 69-73 dB and a noise

Timing recovery for UWB signals
IEEE Global Telecommunications Conference, 2004. GLOBECOM '04., 2005The paper is concerned with timing recovery for ultra-wideband communications operating in a dense multipath environment. A timing algorithm is proposed that exploits the samples of the received signal to estimate the start of the individual frames with respect to a local reference (frame timing) and the location of the first frame in each symbol ...
