Still in the research stage, ultra wide band (UWB) is promising a wireless revolution. UWB wireless has received increasing interest as a means of transmitting data at a rate in excess of that required for video, and over an ad-hoc network that does not utilise a fixed access point as required by wireless LANs. UWB is a wireless transmission technology

Development of CMOS UWB transceivers in NICT UWB consortium
2005 Asia-Pacific Microwave Conference Proceedings, 2005This article reports our activities in a UWB research and development consortium organized by the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology, Japan. We fabricated UWB RF front-end MMICs using 180nm CMOS technology for both of the multiband system and the impulse radio system.

Research on Uwb Technology and Uwb Radar
Theoretical and Natural ScienceUltra-Wideband (UWB) technology signifies a significant leap forward in wireless communication techniques. This state-of-the-art method utilizes the direct modulation of impulse signals with rapid rise and fall times, achieving a signal bandwidth that can extend into several gigahertz (GHz).

A differential receiver for uwb systems
IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, 2006We consider a UWB communication system operating in a typical indoor environment and we propose a novel differential receiver in which encoding is performed symbol-by-symbol rather than frame-by-frame, as is normally done. The detector structure is derived in a single-user scenario using a generalized likelihood ratio test approach.

UWB Chebeyshev band pass filter for UWB communication
2013 International Conference of Information and Communication Technology (ICoICT), 2013In this paper, presented an analysis and designed structure for Ultra-Wide Band (UWB) band pass filter that was carried out using a composite microstrip line with -10 dB and fractional bandwidth of more than 92%. This designed of band pass filter is suitable for ultra-wide band application system.

FM-UWB: A Low-Complexity Constant Envelope LDR UWB Approach
2006 13th IEEE International Conference on Electronics, Circuits and Systems, 2006This paper presents a novel low complexity, constant envelope UWB communication system for personal network and sensor network applications: FM-UWB. FM-UWB uses double FM: digital FSK followed by high modulation index analog FM to create a constant envelope UWB signal.

Since the original FCC Report and Order in 2002, UWB technology has gone through twists and turns as it has entered the marketplace. While a great deal of research has been done and much capital has been invested, UWB has not yet seen widespread deployment. Is there still a big future ahead for UWB?
