V2V communication in a Cox field of vehicles

2014 International Conference on Connected Vehicles and Expo (ICCVE), 2014
We study the effect of vehicle's random locations in vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication. To account for a doubly stochastic property of a vehicular ad-hoc network (VANET), we model vehicle's random locations as a stationary Cox process. The key wireless propagations — path loss, shadowing, and multipath fading — are also considered.

Experimental Assessment of V2V and I2V Communications

2007 IEEE Internatonal Conference on Mobile Adhoc and Sensor Systems, 2007
A key component of intelligent transportation systems (ITS) is the provision of adequate network infrastructure to support vehicular communication. In this paper we present the results of an extensive measurement campaign evaluating the performance of IEEE 802.11 in different vehicular communication scenarios: vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and ...

Group-based authentication in V2V communications

2015 Fifth International Conference on Digital Information and Communication Technology and its Applications (DICTAP), 2015
In this paper, we investigate a security architecture for V2V communication that ensure integrity, confidentiality, anonymity, authenticity and non-repudiation. Based on IEEE 1609.2 Standard, we propose group-based V2V authentication and communication for safety message dissemination with lightweight solution, decentralized via group leaders (GLs ...

Empirical Performance Models for V2V Communications

2015 IEEE International Conference on Computer and Information Technology; Ubiquitous Computing and Communications; Dependable, Autonomic and Secure Computing; Pervasive Intelligence and Computing, 2015
Vehicular networks will significantly enhance traffic safety and management thanks to the wireless exchange of messages between vehicles and between vehicles and infrastructure nodes. Vehicular networks will make use of the IEEE 802.11p technology in the 5.9GHz frequency band.

Regularized ICI Cancellation in V2V Communications

Proceedings of the 16th International Conference on Engineering Applications of Neural Networks (INNS), 2015
In this work, we consider a V2V commnunication system operating over high relative speeds. In this scenario, the wireless channel is characterized by double selectivity, which results into intercarrier interference (ICI) at the receiver. To mitigate this effect, several equalization schemes have been proposed, which usually adopt a banded approximation

Preemptive Network Selection for V2V Communication

2019 42nd International Conference on Telecommunications and Signal Processing (TSP), 2019
A key aspect to fill the demand for intelligent and connected vehicle solutions in C-ITS (Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems), is to improve the network communication technologies existing nowadays. The actual radio network technologies may not support this future demand.

A Seamless Mobility Mechanism for V2V Communications

2017 IEEE/ACS 14th International Conference on Computer Systems and Applications (AICCSA), 2017
The wireless Internet of Things (IoT) is the future of Internet technologies in which every object around us will be connected using some kind of network to every other object, and they will have the capability to send and receive data from them. IoT will trigger a large range of use cases.

Taking advantage of V2V communications for traffic management

2011 IEEE Intelligent Vehicles Symposium (IV), 2011
Real time information to vehicular users is proposing new challenging questions to which wireless systems designers are called to answer. Nowadays many vehicles are already equipped with devices able to connect to cellular networks, and to transmit and receive in real time traffic information through vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) communication ...

MobSampling: V2V Communications for Traffic Density Estimation

2011 IEEE 73rd Vehicular Technology Conference (VTC Spring), 2011
We propose a fully-distributed approach to the on line estimation of vehicle traffic density. Our approach envisions vehicles communicating within a VANET and cooperating to collect density measurements through a uniform sampling of the road sections of interest.
