Loss of Fusion and the Development of A or V Patterns

Journal of Pediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus, 1994
ABSTRACT To test the hypothesis that loss of fusion predisposes the ocular motor system to the development of A or V patterns, we reviewed the pre- and postoperative courses of patients with intermittent exotropia overcorrected with horizontal muscle surgery.

A- and V-Pattern Strabismus

2016
Twenty to 50 % of patients with horizontal strabismus have ocular deviations that measure significantly more or less in upgaze than in downgaze and have been designated as having A- or V-pattern strabismus. An A-pattern strabismus exists when the magnitude of deviation is more convergent or less divergent in upgaze.

The Treatment of A and V Patterns by Monocular Surgery

American Orthoptic Journal, 1977
Eleven patients with "A" or "V" pattern strabismus and the absence of notable oblique muscles overactions, were operated on, using the technique of monocular vertical displacement of the horizontal rectus muscles. The average correction of the A or V pattern was 16.5 delta.

On avoidance of V- and ^-patterns in permutations.

Ars Comb., 2010
We study V- and ^-patterns which generalize valleys and peaks, as well as increasing and decreasing runs, in permutations. A complete classi¯cation of permutations (multi)-avoiding V- and ¤-patterns of length 4 is given. We also establish a connection between restricted permutations and matchings in the coronas of complete graphs.

Segregation patterns in V-blenders

Chemical Engineering Science, 2003
Abstract We report several segregation patterns in V-blenders partially filled with mixtures of glass beads differing in size. Three dominant patterns are found, including one in which larger and smaller particles migrate to opposite halves of the blender. Changes in the rotation rate by as little as 3% can cause a change of pattern.

A-Pattern, V-Pattern, and Other Alphabet Pattern Strabismus

2017
The terms A-pattern and V-pattern describe horizontal strabismus that is vertically incomitant and has a substantial difference in the horizontal deviation between the midline upgaze and midline downgaze positions. A patient with a V-pattern is more esotropic or less exotropic in downgaze than upgaze and an A-pattern is characterized by the converse ...

The 'A' and 'V' pattern syndromes.

Journal of the American Optometric Association, 1985
Variations in strabismic and heterophoric angles with differing positions of gaze are frequently encountered and should be of interest to all clinicians involved in strabismus evaluation and management. This paper discussed the "A-V" Pattern Syndromes, their etiology, diagnosis and management.

Modality and the V wh pattern

2013
Pattern Grammar (Hunston & Francis 2000) has typically focused mainly on complementation patterns, but Hunston (2003, 2011) has speculated if Pattern Grammar should incorporate the study of modality by considering the interaction between modal meaning and particular patterns.
