Completion Efficiency Evaluation in Horizontal Wells and its Importance in Vaca Muerta Formation

SPE Argentina Exploration and Production of Unconventional Resources Symposium, 2018
Abstract In Argentina, unconventional reservoir development learning processes have been continuously advancing, specially lowering project costs in Vaca Muerta's different zones, light oil, gas-condensate and dry gas. However, the actual international oil and gas prices are forcing companies to search for additional improvements to keep

Predicting Stage Isolation in the Vaca Muerta Formation Using Surface Pressure Diagnostics

SPE Hydraulic Fracturing Technology Conference and Exhibition
Abstract This work presents a workflow applied to 27 wells of the Fortin de Piedra Field in Vaca Muerta that can determine the likelihood of isolation problems during fracture stimulation by analyzing pump-down data and comparing fracturing pressures within the same well, providing a practical method to evaluate zonal isolation without ...

New fossil record of a Jurassic pterosaur from Neuquen Basin, Vaca Muerta Formation, Argentina

Journal of South American Earth Sciences, 2013
Abstract Discoveries of Jurassic pterosaurs in the Southern Hemisphere are extremely unusual. In Argentina, pterosaurs from the Upper Jurassic (Tithonian) have only been found in the Northwest of Patagonia (Neuquen Basin). These come from marine deposits and three specimens have been discovered up to the present.

Grain assemblages and diagenesis in the Vaca Muerta Formation (Jurassic-Cretaceous), Neuquén Basin, Argentina

Sedimentary Geology, 2019
Abstract Mudrocks of the Vaca Muerta Formation (Tithonian-early Valanginian; Neuquen Basin, Argentina) contain grain assemblages of mixed extrabasinal and intrabasinal derivation. Mudrocks that contained, at deposition, relatively more abundant carbonate and siliceous biogenic debris display cementation by calcite and quartz that occluded pores and ...

Petroleum Systems Charged by the Vaca Muerta (Tithonian) Formation: Neuquen Basin, Argentina: ABSTRACT

AAPG Bulletin, 1996
Tithonian (Upper Jurassic) source rock sequences are responsible for a significant volume of petroleum reserves on a global basis. This research defines the petroleum systems within the Neuquon basin that are charged from the Tithonian Vaca Muerta Formation, a unit deposited in a low angle ramp setting that is characterized in seismic and geochemical ...
