Optimization of sodium hydroxide for securing high thermoelectric performance in polycrystalline Sn1 − xSe via anisotropy and vacancy synergy

open access: yesInfoMat, 2020
The morphology and composition are two key factors to determine the thermoelectric performance of aqueously synthesized tin selenide (SnSe) crystals; however, their controlling is still under exploring. In this study, we report a high figure‐of‐merit (ZT)

Effect of Vacancy Defect Content on the Interdiffusion of Cubic and Hexagonal SiC/Al Interfaces: A Molecular Dynamics Study

open access: yesMolecules, 2023
The mechanical properties of ceramic–metal nanocomposites are greatly affected by the equivalent properties of the interface of materials. In this study, the effect of vacancy in SiC on the interdiffusion of SiC/Al interfaces is investigated using the ...

Vacancy-Impurity Nanoclusters in Solid Solutions $^3He - ^4He$

open access: yes, 2004
The existence of vacancy--impurity clusters due to quantum properties of vacancies in phase separated solid solutions of 4He in 3He is analyzed and discussed. Additional mechanism called vacancy assisted nucleation is proposed.

Magnetic impurity in the vicinity of a vacancy in bilayer graphene

open access: yes, 2012
We use quantum Monte Carlo method to study a magnetic impurity located next to a vacancy in bilayer graphene with Bernal stacking. Due to the broken symmetry between two sublattices in bilayer system, there exist two different types of vacancy induced ...

Nanovoid nucleation by vacancy aggregation and vacancy-cluster coarsening in high-purity metallic single crystals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
A numerical model to estimate critical times required for nanovoid nucleation in high-purity aluminum single crystals subjected to shock loading is presented. We regard a nanovoid to be nucleated when it attains a size sufficient for subsequent growth by

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Study of Uniaxial Tensile Properties of Hexagonal Boron Nitride Nanoribbons

open access: yes, 2017
Uniaxial tensile properties of hexagonal boron nitride nanoribbons and dependence of these properties on temperature, strain rate, and the inclusion of vacancy defects have been explored with molecular dynamics simulations using Tersoff potential.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Dual targeting of RET and SRC synergizes in RET fusion‐positive cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Despite the strong activity of selective RET tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), resistance of RET fusion‐positive (RET+) lung cancer and thyroid cancer frequently occurs and is mainly driven by RET‐independent bypass mechanisms. Son et al. show that SRC TKIs significantly inhibit PAK and AKT survival signaling and enhance the efficacy of RET TKIs in ...

Comprehensive Understanding and Controlling the Defect Structures: An Effective Approach for Organic-Inorganic Hybrid Perovskite-Based Solar-Cell Application

open access: yesFrontiers in Energy Research, 2018
Understanding the defect structure in organic-inorganic hybrid perovskite material (OHP) is a crucial role to explain several physical properties such as material stability, energy band, carrier mobility, and so on.
