Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 (MMP9) drives ovarian cancer progression. Using MMP9‐null cells (M9‐KO) created from ovarian cancer cells, we found MMP9 loss did not block Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF)‐driven E‐cadherin dissolution or EMT but delayed and reduced EGF‐driven membrane protrusions. Transient MMP9 re‐expression drove membrane protrusion.

An observable for vacancy characterization and diffusion in crystals
To locate the position and characterize the dynamics of a vacancy in a crystal, we propose to represent it by the ground state density of a quantum probe quasi-particle for the Hamiltonian associated to the potential energy field generated by the atoms ...

Cytosolically synthesized chloroplast preproteins are translocated across the outer and inner envelope membranes through translocons called TOC and TIC, respectively. In green algae and plants, the TIC core is composed of essential membrane proteins, Tic12, Tic20, and Tic214.

Help wanted in New Zealand: The ANZ Bank job advertisement series [PDF]
The ANZ Bank publishes a monthly count of the number of job advertisements appearing in New Zealand newspapers and, more recently, internet sites. It is New Zealand’s de facto vacancy or help-wanted series.

Point defect dynamics in bcc metals
We present an analysis of the time evolution of self-interstitial atom and vacancy (point defect) populations in pure bcc metals under constant irradiation flux conditions. Mean-field rate equations are developed in parallel to a kinetic Monte Carlo (kMC)

ABSTRACT Background Myasthenia gravis (MG) is an autoimmune disorder characterized by antibody‐mediated complement activation. Efgartigimod, a neonatal Fc receptor (FcRn) antagonist, is approved for treating generalized MG (gMG). However, its modulatory effects on upstream innate and adaptive immune cells remain largely unexplored.

Using Spinodal Decomposition to Investigate Diffusion Enhancement and Vacancy Population
Material sustainability requires energy‐efficient and rapid strengthening processes. In alloys, strengthening through diffusion‐driven precipitation is limited by the low vacancy concentration, with fewer than one vacancy per 100 billion lattice sites at

Continuum theory of vacancy-mediated diffusion
We present and solve a continuum theory of vacancy-mediated diffusion (as evidenced, for example, in the vacancy driven motion of tracers in crystals).
