Recent Advances in Virus–Host Interactions, Antiviral Bioactive Compounds, and Breeding for Disease Resistance of Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea Virus

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
Basic research on the PEDV infection cycle and virus–host interactions advances the development of anti‐PEDV drugs and disease‐resistant breeding and helps strengthen disease prevention and control while reducing economic losses in the swine industry.

Serological follow up of rift valley fever in a sahelian ecosystem 2004 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
In 2003, a serological study performed in the Ferlo area (northern Senegal), showed that (i) Rift valley fever was endemic; (ii) the risk of transmission depended on the pond type (Chevalier, et al. 2005).

PEPITEM Regulates the Synovial Microenvironment During Immune‐Mediated Inflammatory Arthritis to Limit Disease

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Objective Here we investigate the status of the adiponectin–PEPITEM pathway in early, treatment naive rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and psoriatic arthritis (PsA) and the therapeutic efficacy of PEPITEM administration in preclinical models. Methods Peripheral blood was isolated from patients with clinical suspect arthralgia and suspected inflammatory ...

Intravenous lanadelumab for the treatment of moderately ill COVID‐19 patients

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Aims Kallikrein‐kinin system (KKS) dysregulation is hypothesized to play a pathogenetic role in COVID‐19‐associated pulmonary oedema. To investigate the efficacy and safety of intravenous lanadelumab, a monoclonal antibody that inhibits plasma kallikrein, in COVID‐19, we conducted a phase 2, open‐label, randomized‐controlled, proof‐of‐concept ...

RBD‐SD1 Nanoparticle Vaccines From DPP4‐Using Merbecoviruses Elicit a Cross‐Reactive Antibody Response but Limited Cross‐Protective Immunity

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, EarlyView.
SpyCatcher‐mi3 nanoparticles displaying RBD‐SD1 from MERS‐CoV, NL140422, and HKU4 elicited robust and cross‐reactive IgG responses in mice. Only MERS‐CoV RBD‐SD1 induced neutralizing antibodies against MERS‐CoV and protected human DPP4 mice from a MERS‐CoV challenge, indicating conserved serologic but limited cross‐neutralizing epitopes.

Polymerase chain reaction for differentiation of Pasteurella multocida isolates from turkeys in comparison to strains incorporating in fowl cholera vaccine

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Medical Research, 2007
In the present study, polymerase chain reaction (PCR) using random primer (E-20) was used to characterize and identify strains included in this study. Strains included 4 vaccinal reference strains of Pasteurella multocida, CU strain and 4 field isolates ...

Optimizing Pichia Pastoris Cell‐Free Protein Synthesis to Improve Economics

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Cell‐free protein synthesis (CFPS) is a powerful and versatile platform that supports a wide range of applications, from fundamental studies of the genetic code to scalable and rapid protein production. The recently developed Pichia pastoris CFPS combines advantages of both prokaryotic and eukaryotic systems, including a rapid growth rate ...
