Measurement of Cytoplasmic Streaming in Chara Corallina by Magnetic Resonance Velocimetry [PDF]
In aquatic plants such as the Characean algae, the force generation that drives cyclosis is localized within the cytoplasm, yet produces fluid flows throughout the vacuole. For this to occur the tonoplast must transmit hydrodynamic shear efficiently. Here, using magnetic resonance velocimetry, we present the first whole-cell measurements of the cross ...

Insights on cytotoxic cells of the colonial ascidian Botryllus schlosseri [PDF]
Morula cells (MCs) represent the most abundant circulating hemocyte of the compound ascidian Botryllus schlosseri. They are cytotoxic cells involved in the rejection reaction between contacting, genetically incompatible colonies.

Graphene oxide nanoribbons induce autophagic vacuoles in neuroblastoma cell lines [PDF]
Since graphene nanoparticles are attracting increasing interest in relation to medical applications, it is important to understand their potential effects on humans. In the present study, we prepared graphene oxide (GO) nanoribbons by oxidative unzipping

DAPK3 is Essential for DBP‐Induced Autophagy of Mouse Leydig Cells
This study has confirmed that death‐associated protein kinase 3 (DAPK3) is essential for dibutyl phthalate (DBP)‐induced autophagy of mouse Leydig cells, and is regulated by both transcription factor specific protein 2 (Sp2) and parkin RBR E3 ubiquitin‐protein ligase (PRKN), and melatonin can alleviate DBP‐induced autophagy of the cells.

Juvenile mucopolysaccharidosis plus disease caused by a missense mutation in VPS33A
Abstract A rare and fatal disease resembling mucopolysaccharidosis in infants, is caused by impaired intracellular endocytic trafficking due to deficiency of core components of the intracellular membrane‐tethering protein complexes, HOPS, and CORVET. Whole exome sequencing identified a novel VPS33A mutation in a patient suffering from a variant form of

The Shigella flexneri type 3 secretion system is required for tyrosine kinase-dependent protrusion resolution, and vacuole escape during bacterial dissemination. [PDF]
Shigella flexneri is a human pathogen that triggers its own entry into intestinal cells and escapes primary vacuoles to gain access to the cytosolic compartment.

Regulatory assembly of the vacuolar proton pump VOV1-ATPase in yeast cells by FLIM-FRET [PDF]
We investigate the reversible disassembly of VOV1-ATPase in life yeast cells by time resolved confocal FRET imaging. VOV1-ATPase in the vacuolar membrane pumps protons from the cytosol into the vacuole. VOV1-ATPase is a rotary biological nanomotor driven by ATP hydrolysis.

When the normal kidney is subjected to injurious stimuli, it can lead to persistent activation of ATG5. The activation of ATG5 promotes HSP90‐HIF‐1α interaction, resulting in stabilization of HIF‐1α and subsequent activation of glycolysis. Consequently, this process contributes to mitochondrial fission and inflammation, ultimately culminating in kidney

Aided by FABP5, abnormally elevated asprosin in hepatocytes enters the nucleus, targets and inhibits PPARα binding to the CPT1A promoter, thereby suppressing FAO. Circulating asprosin exacerbates insulin resistance, collectively driving MASLD progression.

The AtNHX1 exchanger mediates potassium compartmentation in vacuoles of transgenic tomato.
NHX-type antiporters in the tonoplast have been reported to increase the salt tolerance of various plants species, and are thought to mediate the compartmentation of Na(+) in vacuoles.
