Dynamics of false vacuum bubbles with nonminimal coupling

open access: yes, 2008
We study the dynamics of false vacuum bubbles. A nonminimally coupled scalar field gives rise to the effect of negative tension. The mass of a false vacuum bubble from outside observer's point of view can be positive, zero, or negative.

Ground‐State Chemical Reactivity under Vibrational Coupling to the Vacuum Electromagnetic Field

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, 2016
The ground‐state deprotection of a simple alkynylsilane is studied under vibrational strong coupling to the zero‐point fluctuations, or vacuum electromagnetic field, of a resonant IR microfluidic cavity. The reaction rate decreased by a factor of up to 5.

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

Optimization of pumping efficiency and divertor operation in DEMO

open access: yesNuclear Materials and Energy, 2017
In the present work a sensitivity analysis of the pumping performance of a standard divertor design for two extreme dome cases (with and without) and different pumping port locations is performed.

Characteristics analysis of compact cesium atomic clock with magnetic state selection

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics, 2022
This paper introduces a compact magnetic state-selection cesium atomic clock called LIP Cs-3000 and analyses its characteristics. The test results reveal that the ranges of the line width, peak-to-valley ratio and signal-to-noise ratio of Ramsey pattern ...

Nonzero Mean Squared Momentum of Quarks in the Non-Perturbative QCD Vacuum

open access: yes, 2010
The non-local vacuum condensates of QCD describe the distributions of quarks and gluons in the non-perturbative QCD vacuum. Physically, this means that vacuum quarks and gluons have nonzero mean-squared momentum, called virtuality. In this paper we study

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

THE STOCHASTIC APPROACHES OF PROCESSES’ DESIGN IN VACUUM-PLASMA FORMATION OF NANOSTRUCTURED COATINGS

open access: yesЛитьë и металлургия, 2017
The calculations of the spatial and energy parameters of a single-component metal plasma flow which is moved in a process gas environment using a numerical algorithm of test particle stochastic method are discussed.

An Experimental Realization of Quantum-vacuum Geometric Phases by Using the Gyrotropic-medium Optical Fiber

open access: yes, 2003
The connection between the quantum-vacuum geometric phases (which originates from the vacuum zero-point electromagnetic fluctuation) and the non-normal product procedure is considered in the present Letter.

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...
