Air Flow and Compression Work in Vacuum Dewatering of Paper

Drying Technology, 2013
Dewatering on the paper machine takes place by gravity, suction, pressing, and evaporation. Optimizing the operation of the vacuum system is important, since the electricity consumption of the vacuum pumps might be one-fifth of the total electricity consumption of the paper machine.

Precoat Vacuum Filtration and Natural‐Freeze Dewatering of Alum Sludge

Journal AWWA, 1972
Some treatment plants can lagoon their sludge; others may dump it into nearby water “repositories.” The Albany, N. Y., facility hasn't the land area for the former and has been enjoined from the latter. Solution to its problem boiled down to two possibilities: dewater by rotary‐vacuum precoat filtration or natural freezing.

Test Study on Dewatering Effect of Sewage Sludge by Vacuum Method

Advanced Materials Research, 2012
The aeration-vacuum dewatering method is a new kind of solid-liquid separate technique. The filter clogging problem in the routine vacuum dewatering procedure of sludge can be solved by the method. This method is used to dewater the sewage sludge in this paper.

Strength properties of vacuum-dewatered concrete

Experimental program is set up to study the effect of the vacuum dewatering process that accerates the rate of strength gain of concrete mixes, having the water-cement ratio and cement content as variables. The effect of the process on the mechanical properties of vacuum-dewatered concrete is also determined in comparison with those of the ...

A study on the application of vacuum microwave composite dewatering technnique in concrete engineering

Cement and Concrete Research, 1994
Abstract In this paper, the application of a vacuum microwave composite dewatering technique in concrete engineering is studied. The final w/c ratio of concrete is decreased to about 0.38. The plastic contraction of concrete occuring due to the decrease of the free water and the hydration rate of cement is increased during the microwave curing ...

Rheological model for sludge dewatering with vacuum-assisted horizontal drains

Canadian Geotechnical Journal
Prefabricated horizontal drains (PHDs) are increasingly popular for vacuum dewatering of sludge with high water content. However, traditional consolidation models based on the principle of effective stress and Darcy’s law fail to capture solid–fluid interactions in the early dewatering stages given the absence of a soil skeleton.

Dewatering and strength characteristics of dredged slurry under curing-flocculation-vacuum filtration

Environmental Science and Pollution Research
Addressing the substantial yearly production of waste dredged slurry with high water content, it is imperative to adopt effective technical treatments for sustainable development. This paper establishes that the curing-flocculation-vacuum filtration (C-F-VF) method efficiently converts high-water content dredged slurry into back-fill soil, achieving ...
