Design and Analysis of Impregnation Chamber Used In Vacuum Pressure Impregnation Process

open access: yesIOSR Journal of Mechanical and Civil Engineering, 2013
The simple explanation is that in nature and in manufacturing, things leak. Vacuum impregnation stops leak. The ultimate goal of vacuum impregnation is to seal leak/migration paths without impacting the functional, assembly or appearance characteristics of a part.

Bio‐Orthogonally Crosslinked Supramolecular Polymer Bottlebrush Hydrogels for Long‐Term 3D Cell Culture

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Fibrous benzenetrispeptide (BTP) hydrogels, fabricated via strain‐promoted azide‐alkyne cycloaddition (SPAAC) crosslinking, form robust, bioinert networks. These hydrogels can support 3D cell culture, where cell viability and colony growth depend on the fiber content.

Development of a lightweight nickel electrode [PDF]

open access: yes
Nickel electrodes made using lightweight plastic plaque are about half the weight of electrodes made from state of the art sintered nickel plaque. This weight reduction would result in a significant improvement in the energy density of batteries using ...

Kinetic study of methanol dehydration over Zro2 supported-activated carbons [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The growing concerns about climate change and energy consumption have been the driving force in seek of alternative fuels such as DME, mainly produced via methanol dehydration over a solid acid catalyst.

From Single Atoms to Nanoparticles: Pathways Toward Efficient and Durable Pt/TiO2 Photocatalysts

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Platinum single atoms on TiO2 nanosheets evolve into clusters and nanoparticles under ethanol photoreforming and thermal treatments. By controlling deposition and post‐treatments, particle size and location on specific facets are modulated. The study reveals how stability pathways determine efficiency, guiding the design of more durable photocatalysts.

Digital Actuation Control of Soft Robotic Origami With Self‐Folding Liquid Crystal Elastomer Hinges

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Self‐folding soft‐rigid hybrid robotic origami is enabled by liquid crystal elastomer actuators with embedded Joule heating and closed‐loop digital control. Digitally addressable hinges provide reversible and programmable transitions between distinct folded states while maintaining actuation performance at high cycle counts (over 1500).
