Predicting thickness impregnation in a VaRTM resin flow simulation using machine learning

open access: yesComposites Part C: Open Access, 2021
This study proposes a method for predicting the impregnation time in the thickness direction of vacuum-assisted resin transfer molding (VaRTM) with flow media using 2D impregnation analysis and machine learning to reduce the computation time.

The Use of Vacuum Impregnation of Barley Grain in the Production of Malt for Wort

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2023
In this study, the process of the vacuum impregnation of Kangoo barley grain, at the stage of soaking, was used in the production of light malt. The influence of vacuum impregnation on the speed of the water uptake by the barley, at temperatures of 12 ...

Strength and durability of concrete modified by sulfur-based impregnating compounds [PDF]

open access: yesНанотехнологии в строительстве, 2015
The aim of the research was to determine how sulfur-containing compound impregnation influences on concrete compressive strength and the impact resistance of concrete tiles. The results of these studies indicate that impregnation of vibropressed concrete

A novel quinazolinone insulin receptor inhibitor and its synergy with an EGFR inhibitor in glucose‐driven glioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel styrylquinazolinone‐based molecule W1B effectively suppresses glioblastoma by inhibiting IGF1R and EGFR. In high‐glucose microenvironments driving tumor resistance, W1B acts synergistically with the EGFR inhibitor dacomitinib. This combination safely blocks compensatory survival signaling in zebrafish xenograft models. Showcasing promising in

Revealing the role of sealing treatment on the electrochemical corrosion properties of HVOF-sprayed WC–20Cr3C2–7Ni/MWCNTs coating

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2023
In this study, the WC–20Cr3C2–7Ni/MWCNTs coating was prepared by high-velocity oxy-fuel (HVOF) spraying. Coatings were sealed with two types of sealants (i.e., silicone resin and aluminum phosphate) using both conventional and vacuum impregnations ...

Molecular dynamics simulations of positively selected codons in FcγRI reveal novel biochemical binding properties

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...

Optimization of Vacuum Impregnation with Aqueous Extract from Hibiscus sabdariffa Calyces in Apple Slices by Response Surface Methodology: Effect on Soluble Phenols, Flavonoids, Antioxidant Activity, and Physicochemical Parameters

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Vacuum impregnation (VI) of natural extracts is often used as a pretreatment for fruit dehydration. Apple slices were subjected to VI [XVP: vacuum pressure (−0.4 to −0.2 mbar), XIT: impregnation time (2–10 min), and XRT: restoration time (1–3 min)] of ...

Hyperactive ice‐binding proteins stabilize cell membranes and improve resistance to dehydration stress in Caenorhabditis elegans

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
TisIBP8, a fungal‐derived hyperactive ice‐binding protein, helps Caenorhabditis elegans survive dehydration. It localizes near cell membranes, reduces cell damage, and helps maintain membrane structure during drying. These results suggest that ice‐binding proteins can protect cells from dehydration stress as well as freezing stress.
