Harmonium: An Ultrafast Vacuum Ultraviolet Facility

open access: yesCHIMIA, 2017
Harmonium is a vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) photon source built within the Lausanne Centre for Ultrafast Science (LACUS). Utilising high harmonic generation, photons from 20–110 eV are available to conduct steady-state or ultrafast photoelectron and

Vacuum ultraviolet nonlinear metalens. [PDF]

open access: yesSci Adv, 2022
Vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) light plays an essential role across science and technology, from molecular spectroscopy to nanolithography and biomedical procedures. Realizing nanoscale devices for VUV light generation and control is critical for next-generation VUV sources and systems, but the scarcity of low-loss VUV materials creates a substantial ...

Fabrication of Transparent and Conductive SWCNT/SiO2 Composite Thin-Film by Photo-Irradiation of Molecular Precursor Films

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2021
A single-walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT)-silica composite thin film on a quartz glass was formed by ultraviolet irradiation (20–40 °C) onto a spin-coated precursor film.

Graphene Oxide Layer-by-Layer Films for Sensors and Devices

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2021
Layer-by-layer films of poly (allylamine hydrochloride) (PAH) and graphene oxide (GO) were characterized, looking at growth with the number of bilayers, morphology, and electrical properties. The PAH/GO films revealed a linear increase in absorbance with

Spectroscopy in the vacuum-ultraviolet [PDF]

open access: yesNature Photonics, 2011
This thesis presents HELIOS, an in-house laboratory for time-resolved pump-probe spectroscopy with extreme-ultraviolet (XUV) probe radiation. A wide span of pump wavelengths can be generated using commercial laser equipment while XUV probe radiation is generated via a high harmonic generation process in a noble gas delivering probe photons with ...

One loop Volkov propagator in the Lorentz class of gauges

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2019
We calculate the ultraviolet divergences in a weak field expansion of the Volkov propagator. This is done for the full Lorentz class of gauges. The expected gauge invariance of the vacuum mass shift in each sideband is recovered.

EUV/VUV Spectroscopy for the Study of Carbon Impurity Transport in Hydrogen and Deuterium Plasmas in the Edge Stochastic Magnetic Field Layer of Large Helical Device

open access: yesPlasma, 2023
The ergodic layer in the Large Helical Device (LHD) consists of stochastic magnetic fields exhibiting a three-dimensional structure that is intrinsically formed by helical coils. Spectroscopic diagnostics was employed in the extreme ultraviolet (EUV) and

Vacuum Ultraviolet Single-Photon Postionization of Amino Acids

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2018
In this study, ultraviolet (UV) laser desorption and vacuum UV single-photon (VUV SP) postionization were performed to ionize and successfully analyze 20 common amino acids. The analytical merit and efficiency of the ionization was compared with those of

Simulations and Experiments Toward Continuous Wave 167 nm Laser Generation for ARPES With High Energy Resolution

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics, 2022
Continuous wave (CW) laser at a vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) range with the narrow-linewidth is an ideal optical source in angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) for the research of superconductors with a narrow band gap. In this study, we present
