Large‐Eddy Simulation of Internal Boundary Layers and Near‐Surface Wind Estimation During Hurricane Landfalls

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 52, Issue 11, 16 June 2025.
Abstract Accurate estimation of coastal near‐surface winds during hurricane landfalls remains challenging, partly attributable to an insufficient understanding of the wind profiles within the internal boundary layer (IBL) induced by an abrupt surface roughness change.

Changes in adiponectin system after ventricular assist device in pediatric heart failure

open access: yesJHLT Open
Background: Ventricular assist device (VAD) implant represents a therapeutic option for pediatric patients with end-stage heart failure (HF). Heart unloading by VAD can modify several molecular pathways underlying cardiac function in HF.

Hydrophobicity causes anomalous migration of cystine/glutamate antiporter SLC7A11 in SDS‐PAGE with low acrylamide concentration

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, Volume 15, Issue 6, Page 994-1008, June 2025.
SLC7A11 frequently migrates faster in SDS‐PAGE. The present study found that the high hydrophobicity of SLC7A11 causes its anomalous migration in SDS‐PAGE with a low concentration of acrylamide gel. Replacing isoleucine with asparagine reduced hydrophobicity and restored its normal migration at 55 kDa, revealing the role of hydrophobicity and gel ...
