Exploring the influence of lactoferrin on wound healing and related signaling pathways: a systematic review

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Lactoferrin promotes wound healing by activating MAPK, PI3K/Akt, and extracellular matrix pathways, enhancing fibroblast remodeling, proliferation, and re‐epithelialization. These mechanisms highlight its therapeutic potential in inflammation control, tissue repair, and remodeling.

Optimizing photoexcitation conditions for time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering experiments

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering (TR‐XSS) is a powerful technique to visualize how proteins change their structure in real time after light activation. Selecting the right laser photoexcitation conditions—fluence, excitation geometry, and sample refresh rate—is critical to maximize the experimental signal while avoiding unwanted side effects ...

Valid generalisation from approximate interpolation

open access: yes, 1996
Let H and C be sets of functions from domain X to R. We say that H validly generalises C from approximate interpolation if and only if for each j ? 0 and ffl; ffi 2 (0; 1) there is m 0 (j; ffl; ffi) such that for any function t 2 C and any probability ...

Protocol for quantifying miRNA trafficking across the endosomal membrane

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
An in vitro protocol measures miRNA uptake into endosomes isolated from mammalian cell extracts, which are free of subcellular contaminants. Performed at 37 °C in the presence of ATP, it ensures the import of single‐stranded miRNA into the endosomal lumen.

The Nijmegen Questionnaire: a valid measure for hyperventilation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Hyperventilation syndrome is often undiagnosed due to its multi-systemic and apparently unrelated symptoms. The Nijmegen Questionnaire is used by clinicians to assess susceptible individuals, based on self-reporting symptoms attributed to ...

Evaluating GenAI‐produced feedback on undergraduate bioscience essays against good higher education feedback practice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This pilot study investigates the potential of Generative AI to provide formative feedback to students. ChatGPT was prompted to provide feedback on Year 1 Bioscience essays, which were evaluated against established good feedback practices. GenAI‐authored feedback had useful elements, but was limited in scope. GenAI may have potential to provide instant,

Valid inequalities for the single-item capacitated lot sizing problem with step-wise costs [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper presents a new class of valid inequalities for the single-item capacitated lotsizing problem with step-wise production costs (LS-SW). We first provide a survey of different optimization methods proposed to solve LS-SW.
