Optimised Search Heuristic Combining Valid Inequalities and Tabu Search [PDF]

open access: yesSSRN Electronic Journal, 2008
This paper presents an Optimised Search Heuristic that combines a tabu search method with the verification of violated valid inequalities. The solution delivered by the tabu search is partially destroyed by a randomised greedy procedure, and then the valid inequalities are used to guide the reconstruction of a complete solution.

The Power of Unity: Collective Action and Smallholder Agricultural Performance in West Africa

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We analyze the impact of collective action through farmer‐based organizations (FBOs) on smallholders' farm performance and income inequality in Ghana, Benin, The Gambia, and Mali. We find that FBO membership increases cereal yield in Ghana and The Gambia, legume yield in Mali, ruminant numbers in Benin and The Gambia, and total farm income in ...

Multi-Modal Last-Mile Delivery Optimization With Smart Micro-Hubs: A Branch-and-Price Approach With Valid Inequalities

open access: yesIEEE Open Journal of Intelligent Transportation Systems
The rapid growth of e-commerce and urban logistics has intensified the challenges associated with last-mile delivery, necessitating the integration of autonomous delivery vehicles (ADVs), drones, and smart micro-hubs for cost-effective and sustainable ...

Graph‐based imitation and reinforcement learning for efficient Benders decomposition

open access: yesAIChE Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract This work introduces an end‐to‐end graph‐based agent for accelerating the computational efficiency of Benders Decomposition. The agent's policy is parameterized by a graph neural network, which takes as input a bipartite graph representation of the master problem and proposes a candidate solution.

Commutators in real interpolation with quasi-power parameters

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2002
The basic higher order commutator theorem is formulated for the real interpolation methods associated with the quasi-power parameters, that is, the function spaces on which Hardy inequalities are valid.

A Polyhedral Study of the Static Probabilistic Lot-Sizing Problem

open access: yes, 2016
We study the polyhedral structure of the static probabilistic lot-sizing problem and propose valid inequalities that integrate information from the chance constraint and the binary setup variables. We prove that the proposed inequalities subsume existing

A Physics Constrained Machine Learning Pipeline for Young's Modulus Prediction in Multimaterial Hyperelastic Cylinders Guided by Contact Mechanics

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
A physics‐guided machine learning framework estimates Young's modulus in multilayered multimaterial hyperelastic cylinders using contact mechanics. A semiempirical stiffness law is embedded into a custom neural network, ensuring physically consistent predictions. Validation against experimental and numerical data on C.

Zero-one IP problems: Polyhedral descriptions & cutting plane procedures [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
A systematic way for tightening an IP formulation is by employing classes of linear inequalities that define facets of the convex hull of the feasible integer points of the respective problems.

MusicSwarm: Biologically Inspired Intelligence for Music Composition

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Biologically inspired swarms of frozen foundation models self‐organize to compose complex music without fine‐tuning. By coordinating through stigmergic signals, decentralized agents dynamically evolve specialized roles and adapt to solve complex tasks.
