NUMERICAL SOLUTION OF VAN-DER WAALS EQUATION FOR VOLUME

International Journal of Numerical Methods and Applications, 2017
Summary: For van-der Waals equation, the trouble appears when the molar volume is wanted where the equation will be a cubic in \(V\) and a cubic formula is quite messy and takes a large amount of works.{ }Therefore, in this article, we present two standard methods of numerical analysis to solve the molar volume using van-der Waals equation.

The historical origins of the Van der Waals equation

Physica, 1974
Abstract This paper studies J.D. van der Waals's thesis in the light of his own remark that he set out to determine the “molecular pressure” in Laplace's theory of capillarity. Van der Waals is reviwed as working in the tradition of mechanical explanation that goes back directly to Newton.

Modified van der Waals Equation for the Prediction of Multicomponent Isotherms

Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 1998
A modified two-dimensional van der Waals equation model was proposed for the prediction of multicomponent gas-solid adsorption isotherms from corresponding single-component adsorption equilibrium data. The model was used to predict adsorption isotherms of CO-CO2 mixtures and CO2-N2 mixtures on Cu(I)-NaY zeolite. Experimental adsorption equilibrium data

Exact derivation of the Van der Waals equation

Physica, 1974
Abstract An exact derivation is given of a generalized Van der Waals-Maxwell equation of state for systems of particles interacting with appropriate long-range potentials. A rigorous statistical- mechanical interpretation of the metastable states of these systems is also given.

The modified van der Waals equation of state

The European Physical Journal B, 2019
PVT data of crystallizable materials (CM), minerals, alkali, alkali halides, metals, mineral oxides and hydroxides, rare gas, water, organic compounds and polymers, published in the literature are reanalyzed. It is shown that all these materials under pressure verify the modified van der Waals equation of state (mVW-EOS), discussed recently [J.

Probabilistic derivation of van der Waals' equation

Foundations of Physics Letters, 1990
A probabilistic derivation of van der Waals' equation is given where the non-ideal contributions to the entropy coincide with the log-likelihood ratios, at their maxima, of the binomial distribution and the upper or lower bounds on the hypergeometric and Polya distributions.

Modified van der Waals equation for liquids

Transactions of the Faraday Society, 1966
The van der Waals equation is modified for application to the liquid state by (a) using the conventional Hildebrand term for the internal pressure; (b) introducing an interaction constant B to describe external kinetic degrees of freedom; (c) introducing a quantity β0 for the residual compressibility of the molecules themselves.

Improvement of the Van Der Waals equation of state

Chemical Engineering Science, 1984
Abstract The Van Der Waals equation of state has been modified in order to improve its accuracy. The introduction of a temperature dependence of the attraction term allows reproducing accurately pure-compound vapour pressures. The modification of the mixing rules, with the infinite-pressure excess-free-energy term expressed by a NRTL-like model ...
